Nokia's N900 is an interesting, although pretty expensive, handset that happens to be running Nokia's newest OS Maemo 5. And while most of its potential customers haven't been able to try Maemo 5 yet, Nokia is already working on the next version of the mobile OS.
Nokia has in fact announced that Maemo 6 will come with support for both capacitive display and multitouch, two features that are not currently available in the N900 or any Maemo 5 devices. Maemo 6 will also offer support for landscape and portrait mode which is another feature currently not found in the N900. Unfortunately that's where we run out of features for now for Maemo 6.
At this point in time we have no idea what smartphones or Internet tablets running Maemo 6 we're going to see from Nokia and there's no indication as to when the new OS will be released to the public. So if you want a Nokia N900
right now and money is no object to you, then go ahead and get one. It may be a while until Nokia will launch its successor.
