Google Explains Why it Does Block Numbers in Google Voice You're probably more than familiar with Google's Google Voice freeware application by now. The app is compatible with most platforms out there although there is one in particular where Google Voice isn't officially supported for now.

I am talking about the iPhone and the App Store of course. The App has been banned from the App Store and this lead to a complex FCC investigation. AT&T, Apple and Google were each asked details about the whole Google Voice on iPhone issue.

Unfortunately for us, the consumers, the FCC wasn't able to draw any conclusion yet. Furthermore the FCC is now investigating Google regarding the way Google Voice works. The Commission is particularly looking into the way Google blocks certain calls with Google Voice as this seems to be the main concern of this new investigation.

Google says that it's forced to block calls to some rural numbers, chat lines and conference call services in order to keep the application free. Those calls are a lot more expensive of course so it looks like Google Voice is actually doing a favor to its users. Let's see what the FCC decides although I am pretty sure the users will be on Google's side on this one.
