Is there anything Android cannot do? I'm really serious about this question because the US Army appears to be taking a liking to the little green robot from the Google labs. Do I hear Android on the battlefield combating terrorist or something?

Soldier Android

So what is the Army doing with Android really? Well the OS will be powering a battlefield network for Raytheon called RATS, yes the name is exactly what you just read. What RATS does is connect soldiers on the battlefield with other assets within the military by the use of inexpensive terminals, it also gives soldiers access to realtime recon data, friendly unit locations, and even biometric/photo analysis. Basically it's like a tracking system, a military social network of some sorts.

So you might be thinking what the hell RATS means, well it means Raytheon Android Tactical System, expect this thing to be more than what it is now as Raytheon are planning to include the ability to add modular biometric scanners to RATS devices, pretty cool huh? It is even possible fingerprints could be scanned on the battlefield and sent back home for processing, all this proves that Android is not just a mobile OS, it is much much more than what it is made out to be, this little green bot will rule the world and I for one welcome our Artificial Intelligent overlords.
