Despite still holding the number one spot in the mobile business Nokia is definitely not happy with its current performance. The Finnish company reported its first bad quarter in years and unless it will launch a few hot smartphones soon, Nokia is likely to lose even more ground,
But have no fear Nokia fans! It looks like Nokia is working on something very hot, a mobile phone that could offer a 3D multi-touch interface. According to the latest patent filed by Nokia it seems that future touchcreen devices will be able to interpret the pressure of your finger against the screen. That opens up a whole new world filled with multi-touch possibilities.
Besides current multitouch actions you could be able to perform a lot of new actions and the screen will respond accordingly. The haptic touchscreen would know how to measure the force of each touch and the direction of movement. Such a 3D multitouch interface could prove to be a key feature of a Nokia phone but we have no idea at this point what's the next Nokia handset that will offer you multitouch support.
