Up until know we thought that the Motorola Droid is coming from Verizon Wireless exclusively, or at least we were expecting it to be a CDMA-only phone for a while. But the FCC has just revealed that the Droid is also compatible with GSM carriers like AT&T for example.
On the other hand we're convinced that Motorola wants to send its Droid Android smartphone to as many carriers as possible in the near future so a GSM Droid phone does make a lot of sense.
The FCC filing reveals the fact that the Droid comes with support for WCDMA 850/1900/2100 and GSM 850/900/1800/1900. In other words we can expect carriers like AT&T or Rogers to launch it soon. Well Rogers has a lot more chances to get the Droid than AT&T as Verizon will probably hang on to that Droid exclusivity for as much as possible.
The Droid is coming officially in less than a week so we might be able to tell you more the GSM Droid once Moto
announces it officially.
