Nokia to Launch Fewer Smartphones in 2010? The word on the street is that Nokia will launch fewer smartphones next year? Is that right? Does that sound like the smart thing to do? Sure Apple has only one smartphone which it keeps updating every year. Does Nokia want to follow such a marketing strategy?

According to Antii Vasara, Nokia's head of smartphones R&D said that fewer smartphones means that Nokia will "cut down unnecessary differentiation" and "have a far more focused portfolio for next year."

It remains to be seen if Nokia will succeed in getting back into the smartphone business. Despite the fact that it already has a few interesting smartphones, none of them can really compete against the iPhone, the Droid or the HTC HD2.
