Walmart to Build WiMAX Towers for Sprint? An interesting alliance is shaping up! It looks like Sprint and Walmart will be working together in the WiMAX mobile business. It seems that Walmart is willing to install WiMAX cells on all its stores in the USA. The real winner here is Sprint which will undoubtedly increase its WiMAX coverage within the USA.

And Sprint needs all the help it can get before Verizon and AT&T starts offering 4G themselves. Unlike Sprint, these two carriers are going to rely on LTE to deliver 4G speeds. And as other international carriers are going to go LTE too, it looks like WiMAX might not become too popular with the general public.

But if Sprint manages to impress the audience with this new Walmart deal which should bring even more WiMAX coverage to U.S. soild then the carrier has a chance to get a lot of new subscribers long before Verizon and AT&T start marketing their upcoming LTE networks.
