Nokia to Introduce Piezoelectric-based Battery Soon? Nokia cellphones usually come with pretty dependable batteries on board and now we hear that the giant Finnish company is plans to make even better handset batteries in the near future. Nokia has filed for a new patent and the company seems to want to make a piezoelectric-based battery.

The documents refer to a "piezoelectric kinetic energy harvester" and the future battery would be "contained within a first frame that is coupled to a second frame by one or more piezoelectric elements."

That sounds all great and stuff but we'd like Nokia to translate it all for us in standby time and talk time, right, Nokia fans? We have no idea when Nokia would actually introduce such batteries but they'd better do it as soon as possible. The smarter current phones are the more battery juice we need to play with their features. A battery that could be recharged by simply moving the handset around would certainly be interesting. That's what "kinetic energy" is all about, isn't it Nokia?
