Verizon Wireless Explains Us How Skype Works Following Verizon's and Skype's joint announcement at MWC 2010 we've seen the later pull Skype for Windows Mobile and later remove Skype for Symbian phones from the Ovi Store. Sure Skype is still free on these two platforms but Verizon seems really interested in convincing as many people to buy Verizon smartphones in order to take advantage of free Skype calls.

You can check the cartoonish presentation right after the break in which Verizon Wireless tries to explain Skype to us like we already don't know what it's all about. Does Big Red think it can convert more people into customers just because what Skype can do for them?

Well, folks, you have to know that Skype is a free software that lets you enjoy VoIP calls on any network and using any kind of smartphone or computer out there. It's all free of charge, yes, but you still get to pay your data plan for it. So don't choose Verizon just because it can offer you Skype calls. The same feature is available with other operators too. Not that Verizon is a bad network. In fact there are plenty of reason to be one of its customers but Skype just isn't one of them!
