HTC to Pay Microsoft Royalties for Every Android Handset Sold It looks like not only Apple has a problem with HTC allegedly infringing a few patents as it looks like Microsoft's patents have also apparently been used without authorization by the same cellphone maker.

But unlike Apple who has sued HTC, Microsoft has decided to sing a licensing agreement with HTC and thus make some money off every Android handset sold by HTC.

The financial aspects of the deal have not been revealed at this time but it looks like Microsoft will be making as much as $40 per HTC Android phone sold according to a Bloomberg article. That sounds like a lot to pay for every Android phone sold and the sum is probably somewhere between $20 and $40.

It will be interesting to see if judges will rule in Apple's or HTC's favor in the following months. HTC could end up paying even more royalties to Apple which will certainly not be good to business but then again Apple might not win the trial which is definitely something the Taiwan-based company will want.
