The AndroidPolice boys got their snuffy little fingers on a Google Nexus One handset running Android 2.2 Froyo. They did some performance test on the device and concluded that Android 2.2 Froyo is 450% faster than Android 2.1, that is pretty impressive if Froyo can truly pull of gains like that. Android 2.2 Froyo could possibly be the biggest and most important Android update yet with performance gains like this, not to mention support for Flash 10.1.
Flash on Android should perform really well since Google pull the cat out of the bag and found a way to make Android noticeable faster. These gains in performance can be directly connected to the implementation of JIT. The Nexus One running Android 2.1 without JIT gets about 6.5-7 MFLOPS. And the same device running 2.2 with JIT enabled gets a whopping 37.5 MFLOPS. That's over four times the performance and right now my mind is just blown away at what Google has accomplished, really good stuff.
So now we know all this, I bet all you Android fanboys can't wait to upgrade to Froyo, but remember if you're using a HTC Android handset with HTC Sense UI or any other brand handset with a different UI from the default, it will take awhile longer before the update comes your way.
