BlackBerry Smartphones to Get QNX OS When Dual-Core Processors Arrive Talking at the D: Dive Into Mobile event RIM's Co-CEO Mike Lazaridis went on record about the PlayBook's QNX OS and its future on BlackBerry smartphones. He did reveal one interesting thing, the fact that QNX would replace the current BlackBerry OS on RIM's smartphones as soon as dual-core processors for mobile devices arrive.

We've recently seen the BlackBerry PlayBook officially demoed by RIM and that QNX OS looks pretty interesting. The PlayBook is the kind of tablet that will employ its own dual-core processor so maybe the OS requires some serious processing power in order to deliver some impressive results.

On the other hand considering that 2011 will probably bring us a bunch of dual-core processors on various different platforms we could see a BlackBerry QNX smartphone a lot sooner than we expect to. What do you prefer, BlackBerry or QNX for your smartphone?
