People have started talking about 4G even before we have successfully dealt with 3G altogether. There are so many areas of the world where 3G isn’t available or where 3G smartphones are much more expensive than you’d imagine. Nonetheless for those used to 3G like they’re used to breathing air, 4G connectivity seems a normal, logical step. Alltel is thinking about integrating LTE for their future 4G network. This is a three to five years move and for now we can only but talk about such an adventure.

Clearwire and the unit of Sprint Nextel that is building the new WiMax (4G) network have successfully merged! The Clearwire name will be retained, and they will absorb Sprint's existing Baltimore-area WiMax network plus Sprint spectrum covering much of the US.

T-Mobile USA is a great carrier if you ask me, but the fact that it lacks a proper 3G network would be a good enough excuse for me to choose a different carrier. And apparently that’s a big problem for the company.

The HTC MAX 4G is the first HTC phone which will get you some WiMAX support if you happen to have a WiMAX network in your neighborhood. If you happen to live in Russia then you should be happy. The Russian network “Scartel” or Yota is the network this HTC was made for. And the MAX 4G will hit the Yota marker on November 26th.

Verizon seems to be on the right track with its 4G LTE network launch. The LTE network is being tested in three metro areas and those lucky enough to be able to test it have reported peak wireless speeds of 60Mbps. The commercial launch has been confirmed and by 2010 Verizon will officially launch it.
