Sagem and UPEK to Launch Android Smartphones with Fingerprint Identity

Cell phone maker Sagem Wireless has decided to partner up with UPEK in order to develop some brand new Android capable of special tricks. The handsets in question will be able to read the user's fingerprints, not that we absolutely need such a feature from our mobile phones, do we?

But Sagem, working closely with UPEK, thinks that the fingerprint identity solution is a more than welcomed addition to the whole Android experience. With such a technology on board users will be able to access some of their most important online accounts easier than before.

Apple Removes the Word Android from iTunes Descriptions

Apple Removes the Word Android from iTunes Descriptions

I didn't think there will come a day in which we will see Apple censor certain words from app descriptions but that day has arrived. Apple has decided not to allow the word "Android" in any iTunes applications which is pretty strange. Will a word remind people of Google's mobile platform and convince them to immediately ditch their iPhones in favor of Android handsets?

Flash of Genius is an app developers that says it has received an email from Cupertino warning him to remove any mention of Android. Here's the email in question:

MWC 2010 will surely reveal Samsung's fresh bada OS. We're counting on Samsung not only to show us all the features and capabilities of its home-brewed mobile platform but also to unveil the first smartphones capable of running bada OS.

Word on the street is that the first Samsung bada phone will arrive as soon as late March / early April which sounds very interesting. It should be only natural to see Samsung hurry to launch a smartphone running its own OS. Let's not forget that Android is growing more and more popular every minute and Windows Mobile 7 is also coming out this year. The sooner bada phones start selling, the better for Samsung.

Motorola Android Prototype Phone Makes an Appearance in Brazil

Motorola Android Prototype Phone Makes an Appearance in Brazil

It's not every day that we see new Android phones from Motorola. Well actually it is every day that we do see them particularly because Motorola plans to launch anywhere from 20 to 30 new Android handsets this year. One of them could be the Motorola prototype handset in the picture here which was spotted in Brazil of all places.

As you can see the device is clearly marked as an "Engineering prototype – Not for Sale" phone. But it's a fully working device. Naturally the menu is in Portuguese and it will pleasantly surprise you with games like Assassins Creed and FIFA 10 already installed.

Google Android: A powerful gaming platform?

We know that Apple's MAC OS is well known for its gaming capabilities. Palm has also recently announced gaming for its Web OS. So what about Android? Well Google is working hard to promote gaming on its Android OS and therefore it is going to give away free Android devices to deserving game developers at the Game Developers Conference.

Windows Mobile 7 coming to Mobile World Congress in Barcelona

Windows Mobile 7 coming to Mobile World Congress in BarcelonaA number of cool devices, gadgets and applications were announced & launched at the CES in Las Vegas last month. The next big event to watch out for is the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which takes place this month from February 15 to 18. One of the reasons why Mobile World Congress is gaining so much importance this year is due to the fact that Microsoft will be launching its new Windows Mobile 7 operating system at this event.

During the last few years, Microsoft has witnessed a steep fall in market share due to the launch of new and innovative mobile operating systems by Apple, Google & Palm. This is because Microsoft's primitive Windows Mobile operating system simply failed to compete with Google's Android OS, Apple's MAC OS and Palm's Web OS. It's been quite some time now since Microsoft announced the Windows Mobile 7 OS and WinMo fans have desperately been waiting for the new OS to launch. Good news for WinMo fans as Microsoft will be announcing and launching the Windows Mobile 7 OS this month at the MWC in Barcelona.

Google Nexus One Data Outage Problems Reported Again

Google Nexus One Data Outage Problems Reported Again

The Nexus One hasn't been the phone Google expected it to be. Sure in terms of specs and features it's one of the best Android phones launched so far but that doesn't mean that it's the most reliable phone out there.

After the 3G issues we've seen earlier this year it looks like data outages have been reported again this week. And this time it looks like the problem is nationwide and the affected phones are left without any data, whatsoever.
