Company Plans Kinect Like Gesture Navigation For Android (video)

We always welcome new ways of interacting with our mobile devices, so far, touchscreens are the tried and proven method of interacting with modern smartphones and tablets, so what else could we be in store for?


A company that goes by the name XTR3D, are creating an application called iZi which allows Kinect style gestures for Android devices, basically, it will tap into the device front facing camera and be able to track your hand gestures. We are not sure how well that will work in the real world, it looks well on video, but since standard front facing cameras are not built for hand gestures, we doubt even with iZi behind it, things won't turn out as one would expect.

Opera today, launched the Opera Mobile Store, this is the place where you go to download apps, just like every other app store out there, the difference is, this store will feature in the Opera Mobile Browser and possibly, Mini Opera. Currently, Opera Mobile Store features apps for Android, BlackBerry, Palm, Symbian, and Windows Mobile. If you need apps for your iPhone, Opera plans to set up apps with a link back iTunes, makes you wonder, what is the point?

Kongregate Kicked From Android Market

Things were going so well, only to be crushed by Google for understandable reasons. Kongregate, the website that hosts over 35,000 online Flash games, submitted their application to the Android Market, the app allows you to play up to 300 games, which were optimized for the small screen.


Submission went well, but Google removed the app because it was distributing other apps, so it was like a market within a market kind of thing. All is not loss by any means, if you want the app that bad, just visit Kongregate website and download it from there, or, you could just visit m.kongregate.com and download games without the need of the app.
