For all those Symbian lovers out there we have some great news. Nokia has gone ahead and launched the Ovi Store. Nokia's first app store was initially launched in Australia, Singapore and Ireland but the soft-launch was quickly followed by the general launch. The Ovi Store is now available from any Symbian S60 or S40 phone.

The Download! client has been reported to offer users a messages saying that it will be "temporarily unavailable" today. During the same time the site for the Ovi Store has been asking for a name and passwords to access it. Are all these signs? Are we to understand that the Ovi Store is near completion?

Symbian lovers guess what? The Nokia Ovi Store is on its way and the planned number of items at launch sits at 20,000, no not 20,000 applications.
Windows Mobile developers should be anxious to finally know the Application Submission Requirements for the Marketplace. So far there aren't any guidelines for finger-friendly interfaces but there are lots of technical requirements that have to be met in order for your application to be allowed in the store.

Well guys its all over now, the winner of the Apple iPhone 1 billion application downloads competition is over and the winner has been announced, not what I expected.
While Apple has reached 1 billion downloads with its more and more popular iTunes App Store, Microsoft is still trailing back. The Windows Marketplace is nowhere near completion yet and the store will only be available sometime this summer when the first Windows Mobile 6.5 will be available. Another bad news is that only Windows Mobile 6.5 applications will be supported so all those developers hoping to include app versions for earlier Windows Mobile OS should already give up on that idea.
