Asus and Travroute Australia, announced the launch of CoPilot Live Pocket PC for the A636 with Built in GPS. CoPilot is the most feature-packed and user-friendly CoPilot navigation system to date for PDA's. Visually, the A636 is a stunner as the personal digital assistant function and as a portable media player. It comes with 3.5-inch, 65K colour screen with a QVGA resolution of 240 x 320 pixels provides a view to the Windows Mobile 5.0 platform powering the device featuring the on-the-fly switching between portrait and landscape modes. In addition, Asus offer a strong arm tilt and swivel mount which secures the A636 into the vehicle’s dash eliminating movement while driving.
Technically, the A636 features the powerful 416 MHz Intel processor at its base, offering 85 MB of persistent memory and 64 MB of RAM for running applications. The A636 further boasts a number of wireless options including Infrared, Bluetooth 1.2 and Wi-Fi 802.11b, USB connectivity combined with the GPS function utilizing the SiRFstar III chipset. “The Asus A636 mated with the CoPilot Live Pocket PC award winning software with text to speech, auto install and Live features together offers the most cost effective on-board PDA/GPS-based navigation solution with the power and features of Windows Mobile 5” explains Emmanuele Silanesu Product Manager from ASUS Australia.
Core features of CoPilot Live include * 3D map display provides a realistic view of the road ahead and a Night Mode where the brightness of the PDA’s display is dimmed and a darker map display is used to reduce glare and eye strain while using CoPilot for night driving.
* A pre-loaded 128MB SD map data card so the GPS is ready out of the box.
* Safety camera locations ( speed and red-light ) with alert warning
* Step-by-Step address entry makes getting to your destination easy.
* A new “Welcome Screen” and “User Tutorial” to help novice users become acquainted with the navigation technology.
* A new desktop pre-trip planning software package which includes, maps, fuel cost calculation and trip optimization plus 4 custom fields so you can add your own points of interest. A new graphic design that includes a “Going To” screen, where you can access different methods for adding stops to the trip such as address, home, work, favorite, intersection, contact, POI (points of interest) , Lat/Long, saved Trip, or go into guidance mode once the trip is built. “tapping-and-holding” anywhere on the stops in the “going to” display allows you to rearrange, delete or map stops, or optimize a trip. * A revised map screen that offers a larger map, a customizable display, and simple turn instruction text / arrow/ distance to next turn. An arrow graphic has also been added to the map display to emphasize the turn instruction.
* CoPilot’s exclusive "Live" technology enables two-way messaging, vehicle location tacking and smart alerts, allowing users to stay connected to family and friends. To use the two-way communications feature, GPRS data service from a wireless carrier is required.

ASUS has launched the Asus A626 ultra-slim PDA to answer the increasing demand of users who require a highly practical yet versatile PDA. This palm-sized marvel matches high quality with an impeccable standard of design and caters to the user’s expectations for personal handheld accessories.
