Qualcomm Foldable Touchscreen Patent May Reveal Future of Smartphones

It's too early to say whether Qualcomm intends to make foldable touchscreens in the near future but what we do know so far is that the company has filed a patent for multi-fold touchscreen displays which could reveal the actual future or our smartphones.

Without getting over excited by the patent in question we still have to acknowledge its existence. Such a foldable touchscreen display could completely change the way we currently look at smartphones, tablets and laptops.

The problem with large smartphones which we happen to love and cherish is that they can sometimes be too big for our pockets. But usually we find a way to place them neatly inside our pockets and carry them without damaging them. Usually! Although sometimes it happens that smartphones go through rough times like the Google Nexus One in the picture.

What caused the screen to brake was apparently carrying it in a pocket and then sitting down all of a sudden. Although the owners of the phone do say that the screen cracked like that while charging on a desk. That's a pretty weird claim but we were not there to actually see it crack so we'll move forward with the story without establishing who is right.

Samsung to Make Touch-Embedded AMOLED Displays

The touchscreen displays as we know them are going to be revolutionized by Samsung. The mobile division of the company has found a clever way to integrate touch sensors in AMOLED displays thus eliminating the need of a glass panel capable of sensing touch inputs.

Samsung has a 3.3-inch WVGA AMOLED display which is going to enter production next month. Once available the new touchscreen technology will surely equip some of Samsung's future's touchscreen smartphones. Furthermore the new technology will be probably used in compact cameras too so we can only be thrilled by Samsung's new touchscreen invention.
