Motorola DROID X Gets Unofficial Gingergbread ROM

Motorola DROID X Gets Unofficial Gingergbread ROM

The Gingerbread man has arrived, everything is looking peachy and all is well, but what else is needed? Yup, an unofficial Android Gingerbread port for other handsets. The official and first handset to sport Gingerbread, the Google Nexus S, is not attainable until December 16 in the US and 20th in the UK, but you can get it right now if you are willing.

If you are an owner of a rooted Motorola DROID X, with a little error and trial, you can have Android 2.3 on your phone right this very instant, all you have to do is follow instructions and you'll be blazing on the speedway with the Gingerbread man.

Costco Starts Selling the Motorola Droid X for $99

Costco Starts Selling the Motorola Droid X for $99

The Motorola Droid X is still one of Verizon's hot Android flagship devices and it looks like those of you looking for a special Droid X deal will be able to get theirs from Costco for a discounted price.

The retailer will sell the device for $99.99 when bundled with a new two-year contract with Verizon, which is half of what Verizon is currently charging for it in its own stores. The obvious downside here is that you'll still have to hop on a new Verizon contract, but the Droid X wouldn't be otherwise as cheap as $99.99 without such subsidies.

Verizon Discontinues Motorola Droid Sales

Verizon Discontinues Motorola Droid Sales

After the HTC Droid Eris and the Google Nexus One have been officially discontinued, it's time for one more important Android device to be retired. I am talking about the Motorola Droid, a hit Android device, which contributed significantly to the growth of Google's Android OS.

The phone is not available from Verizon's official website and you might not be able to find it in stores either. The Droid was launched in November 2009 and it's already getting ready for End of Life.

Easy Root Disappears from the Android Market

Easy Root Disappears from the Android Market

Just a few days ago we told you that there's a very easy application in the Android Market ready to help you root your Droid phones from Verizon. Called Easy Root, the application in question would painlessly unlock your hot Android device with a single click. But it looks like that's not available anymore as Google pulled the plug on it.

So in case you own a Motorola Droid, Motorola Droid X, or even a Motorola Milestone, you'll have to get back to the regular way of rooting your device as Google decided not to allow users to download it anymore from the market. But here's what the developer or Easy Root had to say about this whole thing:

New 1-Touch Easy Root App Available for Droid Phones

In case you happen to own a Droid phone, and by Droid I mean the Motorola Droid or Motorola Droid X, not Android smartphones in general, then you'll be more than happy to hear there's an application that will root them with 1 single click, or, well, 1-touch.

The application is called Easy Root and it's available in the market for just $0.99. That's a great price to pay for an application that would give you access to your favorite phone without putting you through all the hassles of actually performing the unlock yourself

Motorola Latest Android Device, the Droid X, Can be Rooted With Extreme Care

Last week we told you that Motorola has taken serious steps to prevent Droid X and Droid 2 hacking but that doesn't mean people haven't successfully rooted the Droid X yet.

There are detailed web instructions on how to root the Droid X already even if the phone has only been out in stores for a little over a week. But it looks like those of you interested in such a procedure should be aware that there are plenty of ways to brick the handset.

Wi-Fi and Screen Issues Reported to Affect the Motorola Droid X

Wi-Fi and Screen Issues Reported to Affect the Motorola Droid X

The Motorola Droid X, one of the hottest smartphones right now and probably the main iPhone 4 rival available in stores, is also plagued by a few issues.

A very important problem, already confirmed by Verizon and Motorola and said to be limited to just a few Droid X units is screen flickering or screen coloration. The affected units can be replaced with new ones and the issue is probably just some kind of manufacturing problem.

Motorola Taking Serious Steps Against Droid X and Droid 2 Hacking?

T-Mobile to Launch Motorola Charm Android Smartphone
