I just read very detailed review with video, descriptions and many photos, of the HTC's new revolutionary technology TouchFLO. It is made by Edward J. Rutkowski for msmobiles.com and i can honestly say that his point of view for this technology is very accurate and worths reading.
TouchFLO moves forward Windows Mobile phones by taking maximum advantage of touch-screens - so that they can be used comfortably also with fingers and not just by stylus. To improve it even further one would have to add hardware support for multi-touch, but since multi-touch is not supported (yet) by Windows Mobile hardware, clearly TouchFLO is the best Windows Mobile can offer now in finger-based user interface! Adding virtual keyboard especially designed for finger-based usage could improve TouchFLO however. Apart from that HTC clearly has introduced a revolutionary technology, that is more than just a gimmick but a very useful tool that improves user experience significantly.

And here is the other Windows Mobile 6 Standard Smartphone launched today by Dopod - Dopod C500. It is announced togheter with the Dopod C730 Smartphone and is widely known as also known as HTC Vox and Orange SPV E650.
Dopod C500 is a smartphone with breathtaking design and impressive functions. It features 12-numeric keypad and a semi-auto sliding QWERTY keyboard, which not only allows you to key in messages with minimal effort but also fits your style and preferences. C500 runs on all quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE and has WiFi b/g and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity options. It only lacks UMTS or even HSDPA.
Jack Tong, CEO of Dopod International Corp says, "The C500 is tailored for smart professionals who are always busy managing their businesses and those who find timely communication an essential tool in their lives. With the best messaging and mobile office features, the C500 redefines style and its outstanding design reflects the unique identity of its users."
Jason Lim, Regional Director, Asia Pacific & Japan, Mobile Communications Business, Microsoft Corp. said: "As one of the first Smartphones to be powered by the new Windows Mobile 6 operating system, the C500 will provide users with a rich mobile computing experience and the ability to do more while on the go than ever before. The design and features take advantage of the flexibility and power of Windows Mobile 6, making it ideal for professionals who want to use their phone for both work and pleasure. We look forward to our continued partnership with Dopod International to bring even more innovative and exciting devices to the market."
It features Windows Live Messenger and note that device's semi-auto sliding QWERTY keyboard enhances Windows Live messaging and makes the experience so much more enjoyable.
With the latest Windows Mobile 6 platform and Microsoft Office Mobile, you can truly enjoy all the benefits that come with having your own mobile office. The powerful features mean that information and documents you require are always available at your fingertips. The C500 allows users to both view and edit familiar Word and Excel documents as well as the ability to view PowerPoint and Adobe PDF documents. This stylish device also has a Quick Notes function that supports different font sizes to make viewing easier. Additionally, for the first time, users can access corporate files stored on a Microsoft SharePoint Server directly and easily from the C500.
The Dopod C500 is equipped with a Talking Dictionary, which has over 60,000 words from Chinese to English and English to Chinese. But the most beautiful part is that you are guided through the proper pronunciation by an almost human-like voice. This Smartphone has also installed Mobile RSS News Reader, so you can obtain the latest news and related information with just one touch (don'f forget to add our feed, if you like us ofcourse, when you get this smartphone for you).
Dopod C500 will be available in Singapore from mid May 2007 at a suggested retail price of S$ 748/US$ 493/360 Euro.

It runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone Edition and is the slimmest Smartphone to date at only 15.8mm thick. Other specifications include a TI OMAP 850 processor running at 200MHz, a 2.2" QVGA screen, a 1.3MP camera, 64MB RAM, 64MB ROM, Bluetooth 1.2, a microSD slot and a 750mAh battery.
Dopod S300 has some of the following not so good features:
* no mini-USB but a proprietary USB connector
* no UMTS but only quad-band GSM, GPRS and EDGE
* no built-in Wi-Fi
* no USB 2.0 but only USB 1.1
* no Bluetooth 2.0 but only Bluetooth v1.2 without EDR
* no mini-SD or SD but micro-SD card slot
With such an attractive form factor, this device may sell like hot cakes, but i seriously doubt the power user will take it for themselves.

The HTC Cavalier, the UMTS follower of the HTC Excalibur (better known as T-Mobile Dash or O2 Xda cosmo), is expected to be finally launched by Dopod in May as Dopod C730 according to CNET Asia.
HTC Cavalier will be released with Windows Mobile 6 Standard and is expected to be powered by a 400 MHz CPU with 64 MB of RAM and 128 of MB ROM which can be extended through microSD memory cards. The quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE also features UMTS, HSDPA as well as Bluetooth 2.0 and WiFi b/g and a 2 megapixel camera for photos and videos. It only lacks front facing camera for UMTS video calls like the HTC MTeoR.
The Dopod C730 is expected to be available in Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and the Philippines from May, but no price information is given yet.

Dopod is about to hit the Asia-Pacific market with its new GPS PDA phone under the Dopod P800W name, which actually is a version of High Tech Computer's (HTC's) HTC P3300 (codename Artemis), said sources at Dopod.
The device features a TI OMAP 200MHz CPU, 64MB RAM, 128MB ROM, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity, a 2.8" QVGA TFT-LCD, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS, a 2.0-megapixel camera, a microSD slot, and Windows Mobile 5.0.
The P800W utilizes HTC's ROIIR technology, which combines the use of a trackball and track wheels to make map browsing and web surfing similar to using a computer mouse, the sources said, noting that the company will also market the P800W in some markets in Asia-Pacific.
So get ready for the Dopod's release sometime next month.

If you have Cingular 8525, Orange SPV M3100, O2 XDA Trion, T-Mobile MDA Vario II or any other operator branded HTC Hermes Pocket PC phone and want to use it with SIM card from other operators, then check out this new free SIM unlocker.
It is a patched radio for the HTC Hermes which can hopefully be used to remove the Operator SIM lock from HTC Hermes based telephones. After flashing another radio ROM (or shipped ROM) your device will be CID-locked again and Security Level=FF (unprivileged) but it will remain SIM-Unlocked forever.
Note that This is free to use, but at your own risk, I take no responsibility for any conflict, fault, or damage caused to your phone by this unlocking procedure. It may invalidate your warranty. Full caution is advised.
Usage Instructions:
* Enter bootloader mode on your Phone. To do this, simultaneously hold side OK and POWER buttons together and reset with stylus.
* Connect your phone to your computer using the USB lead.
* Run the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe program. This will reflash your phone with a patched radio ROM required to unlock.
* Wait patiently.
* Once the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe upgrade completes, it will be closed automaticaly or it will end up saying "Upgrade Error", but the patched radio ROM will be flashed anyway, dont worry about that error!
* Soft reset with stylus (Device will not be hard reset and no data will be lost)
* Allow your phone to reboot. Once it has, put a SIM from another company and the phone should ask you the Unlocking code
* Enter this CODE: 22051978
* Process is (hopefully) complete!
You can download HTC Hermes SIM Unlocker here and find out more information from this forum thread.
