The iPhone Dominates the Japanese Smartphone Market

It looks like the iPhone is getting more and more popular in Japan too. According to Impress, the iPhone has a 46.1 percent of the smartphone market in Japan. That's particularly surprising considering that Japan customers usually prefer local handsets over foreign ones.

The iPhone 3G has 24.6 percent of the smartphone market in Japan while the iPhone 3GS is trailing behind with 21.5 percent. The iPhone 3GS will probably surpass the iPhone 3G in sales by the time Apple launches the next-gen iPhone.
