After Google's move into the navigation market with the release of Google Maps Navigation, the buzz over there is quite tremendous. Their product is very cool indeed but I want to present you another app for Android phones called AugSatNav, which handles navigation task with ease and is based on the concept of augmented reality. Google just released their navigation product called Google Maps Navigation. It is an internet-connected GPS navigation system with voice guidance and is part of Google Maps for mobile. Currently Google Maps Navigatio is available for phones with Android 2.0 like Motorola Droid. Google Maps Navigation uses your phone's internet connection to give you the latest maps and business data. But that's not all that's different about Google's approach to GPS navigation. VirtualGPS Lite is a Windows Mobile application that will emulate a GPS module and it will give you your current location by using cellular towers. Accuracy is pretty good but not comparable to a real GPS unit. The software will offer about 200m of accuracy in urban areas whereas for countryside the accuracy suffers your coordinates might differ by as much as 5km from the real ones.

Navigation software these days is one of the very much used ones when it comes to Windows Mobile devices. That's why I am sharing with you this nice review of Garmin Mobile XT for Windows Mobile made by Gears from CoolSmartphone.com.

Garmin Mobile XT is a good bit of kit, don't get me wrong. The range of options and the navigation details are great. Little tweaks like the track logs, auto dimming screen and the ability to quickly find petrol stations, hotels and cash machines in your local area are all fab. However, I was a little disappointed with some of the default settings of the program - that auto-zoom does my head in and I couldn't seem to shake off the GPS lag at times. It could that I need to adjust the baud rate on my settings, but this program sets the GPS up automatically when it can, so I'm hoping it didn't get things wrong. There's also those few niggles with the country selection but, for just over £50 with free traffic updates, you've got to work this all into the equation.
