Just a few days ago we've seen Skype made available for the Ovi Store but not everyone will be able to take advantage for it. The Skype app for Symbian phones has been pulled from the U.S. Ovi Store and everyone is blaming Verizon for the whole thing.

That means you will have to get your VoIP app from somewhere else until Skype and Verizon do launch their joint application and finish promoting their VoIP deal. But not every Symbian customer in the USA will be signing up with Verizon in order to get VoIP calls!

After we've seen Skype pull its Windows Mobile clients in order upgrade them and make them offer us a better mobile experience, we now here that Nokia users can download and enjoy Skype on the go as a free client is now available in Nokia's Ovi Store.

The application is finally out of beta and you can start enjoying almost-free, unlimited calls to your friends and family. All you have to do is make sure you have an unlimited data plan available to meet your needs or access to lots of Wi-Fi spots.

Here is one very interesting app for movie lovers. It is called IMDb Mobile and what it does is to retrieve information from IMDb.com and display it on your Windows Mobile. It uses the iPhone IMDb API to retrieve information from IMDb.com and display it on your Windows phone and works like a charm.

We told you that Nokia was up to something and it looks like we were right! Although it still remains to be seen what the Finnish company will announce at the special event scheduled for London next week, we already know that a new Ovi Maps version is coming to Nokia smartphones and it will bring free turn-by-turn navigation to any GPS-enabled handset.

The move is not that surprising considering that Google has pretty much done the same thing for its Android customers in the USA. But Nokia will offer free navigation to all the smartphones it sells. Nokia's turn-by-turn navigation will be available initially in 74 countries which is quite impressive in comparison to Google.

Nokia has apparently scheduled a press event on Thursday, January 21, and we're definitely interested to see what the Finnish company is going to tell us. According to the invitation the Nokia Ovi press event will share some "big news" with everyone so what could it be? New store features? New handsets?

Attending the event is Anssi Vanjoki, executive vice president of Nokia and Nokia UK General Manager Mark Loghran. The event will take place at 9:30AM sharp followed by a Q&A session at 9:45AM. This must certainly be UK local time but we'll bring you all the hot news once we have them.

The Nokia N900 is by far one of the best gadgets ever to have been created by Nokia last year. Unfortunately for everyone that purchased the device not everything is fun and games. One reason for that is that the Ovi Store wasn't available to the Maemo device.
