Netflix to Make an iPhone App?

Netflix to Make an iPhone App?

Netflix has been steadily growing over the last few years and it became quite fast the go-to place for renting DVDs or streaming them online. But of course, you already know that. There's nothing certain at this point but Netflix could launch such an app later this year. The company is currently asking customers through a recent survey if a Netflix iPhone app is a good idea. We'll also have to wait and see if the studios will agree with such an app that would basically convince more people not to buy as many DVDs as before.

Guardian Project to Make Secure Android Smartphones?

Guardian Project to Make Secure Android Smartphones?

The Guardian Project is an initiative that wants to develop secure smartphones and Android has been chosen to power them. Such a Guardian Android smartphone would offer you an anonymous browser, encrypted email, secure voice calls and data syncs.

That means of course that such a phone would bind Android OS with some custom firmware that would make all of the above possible. Once the security measures have been implemented you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a regular Android-running smartphone and the Guardian Android smartphone. The best part is that you wouldn't require any special smartphone to install such a custom Guardian Android firmware build. Any Android handset will do just fine.

Nokia to Launch Fewer Smartphones in 2010?

The word on the street is that Nokia will launch fewer smartphones next year? Is that right? Does that sound like the smart thing to do? Sure Apple has only one smartphone which it keeps updating every year. Does Nokia want to follow such a marketing strategy?

According to Antii Vasara, Nokia's head of smartphones R&D said that fewer smartphones means that Nokia will "cut down unnecessary differentiation" and "have a far more focused portfolio for next year."
