PocketPC Battery and Memory Monitor is a battery and memory monitoring and management app for Windows Mobile-powered handhelds and smartphones. 
A Carleton University phD student has developed a way to greatly reduce the amount of power it takes to run smartphones like Blackberry and the Apple iPhone. The prototype removes of all the wires used to connect the electronic circuits with the antenna and connects the antenna with the circuits through a wireless connection between a micro-antenna embedded within the circuits on the chip.
IT company Intel has announced that it is studying technology to harvest free energy from the environment. if successful, the effort will lead to cellphones and other gadgets running for prolonged periods without a recharge.

I got tired just writing that title so I feel I have to explain myself. We've spoted a Windows Mobile smartphone prototype which will be powered also by solar energy. What's the name of this one? Eclipse Intuit. I like what I've seen so far, and first impression is what counts in most cases. Let's see if this handset is up to the challenge!
