Not really surprising here, Google only sold 135,000 Nexus Ones in the first 74 days since the handset went on sale, but don't jump to conclusions now and talk about how much the handset has flopped, far from it. The research done by Mobile search firm Flurry, has shown how pathetic the Google Nexus One sales were in its first 74 days compared to the iPhone and Motorola DROID. The DROID surprisingly came out on top with 1.5 million sales, Apple iPhone played second with 1 million and Google's little baby at the meager number of 135,000.
Now, lets see why the Google Nexus One appears to be a complete flop, first off, the DROID was pushed with a $100 million marketing campaign by Verizon, the Apple iPhone had the Apple branding behind it and at the time, it was the hottest thing on the market, the one phone that changed the whole industry to what it is today. Google's little toy? Really good phone but it didn't get the marketing push it deserves, the phone is only available online at Google's Store and launched out on T-Mobile which is one of the smaller networks in the U.S. Then we have to take into consideration one more thing, how many consumers out there would actually buy a phone without testing it out? One cannot do that with the Nexus One unless you're lucky.
