Verizon Wireless Explains Us How Skype Works

Verizon Wireless Explains Us How Skype Works

Following Verizon's and Skype's joint announcement at MWC 2010 we've seen the later pull Skype for Windows Mobile and later remove Skype for Symbian phones from the Ovi Store. Sure Skype is still free on these two platforms but Verizon seems really interested in convincing as many people to buy Verizon smartphones in order to take advantage of free Skype calls.

You can check the cartoonish presentation right after the break in which Verizon Wireless tries to explain Skype to us like we already don't know what it's all about. Does Big Red think it can convert more people into customers just because what Skype can do for them?

MSI Android VoIP LandPhone

MSI Android VoIP LandPhone
Android is going everywhere, there are no limitations to what this OS can do at the moment, and I personally am glad to see manufacturers taking advantage of this truth. What we have here is a VoIP Video conferencing landline phone coming right from the MSI labs, and to be truly honest here, this Android landline looks kinda sexy there on the outside.

The device which is called the MS-9A31 is not all bare-bones, it has a LAN and USB ports along with a memory card reader for saving whatever. It has large touchsreen, a cam top center of the phone and it just look so damn good, all it needs now is full featured Skype support and this bad boy would be owned by many who still gives rats ass about house phones. arbitrarily I see huge potential with this device, but without Skype or any other popular social VoIP client onboard, the MSI MS-9A31 is doomed for business related purchases only.

Skype Pulls Nokia Ovi Store App in the USA

Skype Pulls Nokia Ovi Store App in the USA

Just a few days ago we've seen Skype made available for the Ovi Store but not everyone will be able to take advantage for it. The Skype app for Symbian phones has been pulled from the U.S. Ovi Store and everyone is blaming Verizon for the whole thing.

That means you will have to get your VoIP app from somewhere else until Skype and Verizon do launch their joint application and finish promoting their VoIP deal. But not every Symbian customer in the USA will be signing up with Verizon in order to get VoIP calls!

Skype Pulls Windows Mobile Clients Until Further Notice

Skype Pulls Windows Mobile Clients Until Further Notice

Skype has decided for some reason to pull Skype and Skype Lite support for Windows Mobile phones, at least for the time being. The official excuse is the fact that Skype wants to offer a better Skype experience to Windows Mobile smartphone owners. The new Skype app should bring Windows Mobile owners an experience similar to the iPhone Skype experience:

MWC: Make Skype Calls Over Verizon 3G Come March 2010

MWC: Make Skype Calls Over Verizon 3G Come March 2010

Here's something interesting for Verizon Wireless subscribers, soon you'll be able to fire up Skype Mobile and make a call right over 3G, now this is something long over due and I'm quite happy to see Verizon of all the other networks opening up to allow users to have a greater deal of freedom. I'd say hats off to Verizon but I don't wear hats sadly.

A joint press conference held by Skype and Verizon today at MWC, unveiled the most wanted feature of making none hacking VOIP calls over Verizon 3G network via Skype, this is good news as all one needs right now is unlimited 3G, a friend with Skype and making calls would be awesome again, no more checking the damn credit. Skype Mobile for Verizon will make its debut next month, but will not be readily available on every handset with the ability to support it, so far only the Motorola DROID, Motorola DROID Eris, BlackBerry 8530, BlackBerry 9530, BlackBerry 9550, and BlackBerry 9630 are the stated supported handsets, more should follow soon after.

Verizon Preparing for Skype Phones Announcement?

Verizon Preparing for Skype Phones Announcement?

Just yesterday we were talking about the joint press event which Skype and Verizon are going to hold at MWC 2010, and today we have more hot information for you. It looks like people in the business are talking about Skype phones coming from Verizon.

We shouldn't really expect Skype to actually make any handsets for Verizon, should we? What could happen is for Verizon to actually announces some interesting Skype plans for all its 3G-enabled smartphones and featurephones.

Skype and Verizon to Hold Joint Press Event at MWC

Skype and Verizon to Hold Joint Press Event at MWC

A strange press event has been announced for MWC 2010. It looks like Verizon, the number one carrier in the USA, and Skype, a company that's ready to meet your VoIP needs are teaming up for a joint press event in Spain.

We will be really interested to hear what Verizon wants to tell to the European public attending the show. Sure we're interested to find out what surprises Skype has for us, but I can't imagine why there's a need for an official presence from Verizon.

Skype to Bring VoIP Calls Over 3G to iPhone and iPod touch

Skype to Bring VoIP Calls Over 3G to iPhone and iPod touch

Just last week we told you how fring for iPhone has finally gotten VoIP calls over 3G and now we know that Skype is also going to offer the same service to iPhone owners soon. Not that we would expect anything different, would we?

After all Skype is the master of VoIP calling so it's only logical to see it offer full VoIP calling support to iPhones and iPod touches. And while you wait for Skype to brush up its iPhone app you can always make sure that you have an unlimited data plan and that most of your friends and family know your Skype ID.

Fring for iPhone Comes with Skype Over 3G Now

Fring for iPhone Comes with Skype Over 3G Now

For some weird reason Apple has decided to finally allow VoIP calls over 3G. And since the new iPhone SDK is out we can expect more and more VoIP apps to offer you 3G calls on Skype.

Fring for iPhone is such an application that will have you talking to your Skype friends in an instant even when you're using the 3G available connectivity. The only problem is, of course, AT&T's network. In some metropolitan areas you might not enjoy your VoIP experience over 3G, but at least the feature is available now.
