Here’s a fun application which unfortunately not everyone will be able to use. First of all we need a Symbian S60 3rd edition handset. That’s easy to do. Just pick a Nokia smartphone. Since Nokia has about 40% of the worldwide cell phone market, you will be able to find one fast. You might even own one. But then you need a Bluetooth watch from Sony. That might be harder to procure. An MBW-100 or MBW-150 should do.

We have a secure date ladies and gentleman! The Xperia X1, possibly one of the best smartphone from Sony Ericsson this year is finally coming. And it will arrive this year, as Sony Ericsson representatives suggested before. We were actually wondering if the handset was going to hit the market this year and it appears it will. It has been suggested that, because of incompatibilities with the Windows Mobile OS, the phone will be postponed to early 2009. But that’s all water under the bridge, isn’t it?

Sony Ericsson together with Sony BMG, Warner Bros and EMI has launched the PlayNow online music store. Well Sony Ericsson was certainly inspired by iTunes or Nokia’s service ‘Comes with Music’. For now the store has no less than one million DRM free tracks and it’s expected to have five million tracks ready to be downloaded by the end of next year.

If T-Mobile USA is going to try to make a hit of their brand new rumored Android phone, then some lucky carrier will get the Xperia X1 on October 30th in the UK. 3 is the suspected carrier actually since we heard various rumors saying it will start selling the Xperia sometime in November.

The Missing Sync for Symbian is an application designed by Marc/Space meant to sync Mac apps to Symbian S60 and UIQ smartphones. There’s even a cool feature called Proximity Syncing which means that when your Mac and Symbian phone are in Bluetooth range they will automatically sync.

Sony Ericsson didn't have a good quarter, in fact it outright stunk. The cell phone manufacturer announced a loss of profits that totalled 97% today. The company had reported impressive gains in the first quarter of 2008. The loss of profits comes at a time when the number of handsets sold by the company has actually increased.

How would you like a PlayStation phone from Sony? How long have we been waiting for that to happen? Too long. But it appears that Sony wants to do this all alone without any Ericsson involvement. If Nokia came up with N-Gage a long time ago, why shouldn’t Sony transform their PlayStation into a smartphone too? Oh wait, I know, they need the Ericsson software and knowledge for that whole transformation.
