Sprint's Overdrive WiMAX Hotspot For Your iPhone

Sprint's Overdrive WiMAX Hotspot For Your iPhone

You an iPhone owner struggling with AT&T's slow 3G network and want something allot faster? You can check out Sprint's new WiMAX toy called Overdrive, basically you use this thing as a wireless hotspot where you would connect your iPhone to get WiMAX 4G speeds, sounds cool huh? It is, but too bad a better option is available, it might not be the fastest but if you do allot of mobile surfing, then this is the only route to take.

Here's the thing, Sprint's WiMAX service is fast, up to 10x times faster than 3G they say, but did they bother to tell you that for $59.99 a month you are only limited to 300MB of data? What kind of BS move is that, what can anyone do with 300MB per month data nowadays? This is not the best way to get users to take advantage of the WiMAX network, or is it that they don't want subscribers doing that, either way, it is still BS to me.

HTC Supersonic to Arrive from Sprint Next Week?

You know what the HTC Supersonic is, don't you? Well it's only the first and only 4G Android smartphone scheduled to come to Sprint customers in the USA as previously suggested. But now we hear something a lot more interesting as it looks like Sprint is interesting in launching the hot smartphone sooner than expected.

Various voices over the Internet are currently saying that the Supersonic is heading to Sprint next week. The carrier is expected to announce it at CTIA and even make it available thereafter.

Sprint Uses iPhone 3G to Promote its 3G/4G MiFi Solution

Sprint Uses iPhone 3G to Promote its 3G/4G MiFi Solution

It's not unusual to see an American carrier promote its services with help of an Apple iPhone. It is unusual to see one that currently can't sell the device to its customers talk about the iPhone. Sprint, a CDMA mobile operator, can't sell the iPhone for two obvious reasons. One, the iPhone is GSM only and two, it is bound to AT&T exclusively, at least for now.

What Sprint did was to release an ad for its 3G/4G MiFi-like WiFi hotspot which is ready to offer you up to 6Mbps downlink speeds in WiMAX-covered markets. In the ad, which you can enjoy just below, the iPhone is featured.

Google Nexus One Coming To Sprint

Google Nexus One Coming To Sprint

Here's some news for everyone, the Google Nexus One is making its way to Sprint later in the year, not only that but Verizon is poised to be making a similar announcement so everyone has always been perving at Google sex-machine, this is time to pick one up on the cheap along with a 2 or 3yr contract of course.

No here's the thing, you'll still be required to buy the phone from Google themselves, the Nexus One will not be sold in stores just strictly online, I guess we now know why after 74 days Google only sold 135,000 of these bad boys, or it could be because the phone was never available for the likes of Sprint and Verizon which are larger networks compared to T-Mobile.

BlackBerry Slider Gets Spotted, Rumored to Come Exclusively from Sprint

BlackBerry Slider Gets Spotted, Rumored to Come Exclusively from Sprint

Word on the street is that RIM is indeed making one of those slider smartphones that are supposed to mix a touchscreen display with a full QWERTY keyboard. In fact it has been suggested that such phone will come exclusively from Sprint later this year although there are details that can confirm any of this just yet.

The rumored slider has a codename, BlackBerry 9900/9930 and people say it's going to come with support for CDMA and GSM carriers which means other North-American could launch it later this year. The rumors also go on to say that so far the device is doing poorly in tests but, again, none of this could be confirmed at this point in time.

BlackBerry Bold 9650 Manual Gets Leaked

BlackBerry Bold 9650 Manual Gets Leaked

We finally have details regarding an upcoming BlackBerry smartphone. This time around we're talking about the BlackBerry Bold 9650, a phone that hasn't been officially confirmed by RIM or any of its partners but a phone whose use manual has been leaked already.

You might already be familiar with the handset since some people refer to it as the Essex or the Tour2. Whatever the name is we'd really like to see it get launched and then immediately followed by other spectacular BlackBerry handsets. But in the mean time we'll just have to look at its semi-official specs, shall we?

Verizon Wireless LTE Smartphone Coming in Mid 2011

Verizon Wireless LTE Smartphone Coming in Mid 2011

While Sprint is going to launch its 4G-enabled smartphone later this year, and I am referring to the HTC Supersonic Android phone, Verizon will only be able to counter this 4G offer with an LTE handset in 2011. Anthony Melone, Verizon's CTO has confirmed for The Wall Street Journal that his company will be ready for an LTE handset by mid 2011 which is actually six months earlier than expected.

Some people are already saying that Verizon is getting ready for an Apple partnership that will see them offer a CDMA/LTE iPhone to their customers next year. But Verizon itself is keeping quiet on the whole matter.

Palm Rumored to Make WiMAX Phone for Sprint

Palm Rumored to Make WiMAX Phone for Sprint

Call it wishful thinking but it looks like Palm might be getting ready to make a brand new smartphone. The unnamed and unseen yet device is rumored to be a smartphone destined to work with Sprint's brand new 4G network. In other words Palm is rumored to make a WiMAX phone for Sprint and the handset in question is due to arrive later this year.

We can't confirm any of this right now but we can tell you that neither Sprint nor Palm wanted to officially comment on the matter. We wouldn't be surprised to see a WiMAX phone arrive later this year and we're certainly interested to see Palm's next webOS phone.

Google, Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile Respond to FCC ETF Questions

Google, Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile Respond to FCC ETF Questions

The Big Four and Google have all responded to the FCC's ETF-related questions. You should remember how the Commission wants to know more details about the whole early termination fees issue and how all the major U.S. carriers and Google have been asked to present their ETF policies.

T-Mobile wants just a single $200 ETF which can be avoided by customers altogether when choosing an Even More Plus plan. Google on the other hand, a partner of T-Mobile selling the Google Nexus One, brags about cutting down its own ETF from $350 to $150. Google's ETF called the Equipment Recovery Fee is apparently not a revenue stream but rather an alternative intended to help Google recover its loses should a customer cancel their T-Mobile contract within 120 days.
