The HTC Desire and the HTC Legend are probably two of the hottest Android smartphones of the moment and Vodafone UK is definitely interested into making the most of them. It's not the first time we discuss the merger between two UK important carriers, T-Mobile UK and Orange UK, but this time around we can confirm that the merger will finally be able to take place. The EU Commission has cleared it and Deutsche Telekom and France Telecom can close the deal.

In fact it's expected that the merger will take place by Spring so if you happen to be one of T-Mobile UK's customers you'd better start getting used to the idea that you're going to refer to Orange UK as your default carrier in the very near future.

O2 UK seems to be preparing for iPhone video calls in the UK. The iPhone models available to date in stores lack a front-facing camera that would let them offer you 3G video calls. That must only mean the fourth-generation iPhone will have one in order for O2, and other mobile operators, to offer video calls soon.

It looks like Amazon UK is getting ready to offer its customers three hot smartphones announced at the last MWC edition in Barcelona, Spain. The phones in question are HTC Desire, Legend and HD Mini so get ready to choose one if you happen to be currently living in the UK.

Yes, the BlackBerry Storm2 still exists and it's a pretty good handset. The second version of RIM's touchscreen smartphone vision is better than the original, but neither the Storm nor the Storm2 became officially hot. And neither of them became the iPhone killer handsets that some people expected them to be.

The Storm2 has been launched in the USA last November and it looks like it's getting ready to cross the ocean to the UK again. T-Mobile UK is the carrier that's going to launch it soon so in case you live in Britain and you're thinking about getting a new smartphone from RIM then the BlackBerry Storm2 could be a great choice for you.

This is the question, folks! Will Orange and T-Mobile UK merge in order to create the largest mobile conglomerate in the UK? The move has been announced last year but it looks like it hasn't yet been approved. Both France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom are waiting for the move that will offer them a better position in UK.

The merger might not go as initially thought as the Office of Fair Trading in the UK is worried that such a move might affect competition in mobile telecommunications in the UK.

The iPhone has been just an O2 business for a long while in the UK. But in fall 2009 its main competitors, Orange and Vodafone, have both announced that they plan to sell Apple's smartphone to UK customers. As soon as O2's exclusivity deal expired Orange started selling the handset but Vodafone began offering iPhones to its customers only more than a week ago.

You'd say that O2 has probably cashed in on everyone's desire to get an iPhone 3G or 3GS in the UK but that's not so. Vodafone's sell prove just that. It seems that the company has sold 100,000 iPhones in just over a week which goes to show that these phones are still in very high demand.

Vodafone UK will join O2 and Orange, the carriers that are already selling the iPhone in the UK. Vodafone has confirmed the fact that the iPhone is coming and its customers will be able to get it starting with January 14, 2010.

Unfortunately for you the iPhones won't be available before Christmas from Vodafone so you'll have to wait the new year to get it.
