ChevronWP7 Updater Could Break Windows Phone 7 Devices Says Microsoft

ChevronWP7 Updater Could Break Windows Phone 7 Devices Says Microsoft

Bad news for those Windows Phone 7 owners who went ahead and used the ChevronWP7 updater to update their phones to NoDo.

Microsoft asked the developer of the tool to pull the ChevronWP7 Updater because there is a chance it could render phones useless or immune to future updates. The only way to get your Windows Phone back to its normal state, is to flash the device with a stock ROM, that means, sending the phone to Microsoft or your carrier. However, fret not, because Chris Walsh, the developer of Chevron WP7 Updater, is looking into how he can reverse the process and get your handset back on the light side of the force.

NoDo, which many believes to stand for No Donut, a slight jab at Google's Android, has been in the works for a while. Promises were made, promises were broken, but finally after waiting for what seems like ages, NoDo can now be downloaded to the HTC HD7. Many on T-Mobile should be seeing the option to get the update, others will have to wait a few hours more as the update continues to be pushed out to subscribers.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 To Get Gingerbread Update Afterall

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 To Get Gingerbread Update Afterall

Here's a massive blow to the balls of many, Sony Ericsson plans on updating the Xperia X10 to Android 2.3, Gingerbread, say what?

Last time we checked, or heard, Sony Ericsson chose never to update the X10 to Android 2.2 because their custom user interface made it difficult, so what really changed so much in Android 2.3 that would allow them to make the upgrade? We are baffled also. We never expected this, we all about thought that Sony Ericsson would have alienated their user base and force them to buy a new phone, so this move by them is pretty awesome.

Microsoft Makes WP7 Update Features Official

Microsoft Makes WP7 Update Features Official

Microsoft is yet to release the first important Windows Phone 7 update and while we don't have any release dates for the update yet we do have an official Microsoft presentation of these upcoming features. According to Redmond we're looking at Copy and Paste, faster apps and games or better Marketplace search.

Copy and Paste is definitely one of the most important updates coming to WP7 especially in our busy mobile environment. Copy and Paste will work basically the same way it works on other mobile platforms although we will notice Microsoft managed to bring it to its customers just a little earlier than the competition.

Windows Phone 7 Update Coming Soon

Windows Phone 7 Update Coming Soon

Windows Phone 7, the odd one out, the OS that is lagging far behind the likes of Android and iOS, is trying to make a comeback. On Thursday, Microsoft suggested that the first Windows Phone 7 update is imminent, so, if you are a Windows Phone 7 handset owner, and is currently frustrated, fear not.

The new update is expected to bring a range of features to your beloved OS and handset, features such as, cut and copy paste text, and a number of software fixes, it also brings other important updates, but none that will be relevant to you and your handset at this time. Ironically, the name of the first update is called "No Donuts", which is a middle finger to Google and Android.

Microsoft to Update Windows Phone 7 Soon?

Microsoft to Update Windows Phone 7 Soon?

Microsoft confirmed recently it sold 2 million Windows Phone 7 licenses, which is probably not so great for the company, but things might change once the new Windows Phone 7 update will hit.

Microsoft has apparently published a WP7 update support article which only suggests the update is imminent. The article basically takes you through the whole update process from the Zune software / Windows Phone 7 Connector installation (for PC or Mac) to the actual update install and any issues that might occur.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 No Froyo Update Is Due To Complicated UI

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 No Froyo Update Is Due To Complicated UI

If you own a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, and is wondering if your beloved device will ever get the Froyo update, well, you better begin saving for a new phone because Sony Ericsson put the nail in the coffin today, and it is because of one single a problem, a problem that makes me love Windows Phone 7 so damn much.

What is the problem then? Well, before I get into that, you should know that Sony Ericsson slashed hopes a few weeks back regarding Froyo for the X10, some people were harboring hopes, so this little coming out from Sony Ericcson really cleared things up and broke hearts all over again. The big problem here is the UI, yes, you read correctly, the custom UI is the main reason why X10 owners will never experience Froyo, unless they root their phone.

Google Nexus One Gingerbread Update Coming Soon

Google Nexus One Gingerbread Update Coming Soon

For those with the Nexus One, the Gingerbread update is coming in a matter of weeks, so said a Google representative, but wasn't that the same sentiment put forward by Google last year? Yes it is, these weeks are taking a long time to hit rock bottom.

Being the only handset that cans get the new updates quickly and earlier than the others, it is odd Google is taking so long to get the update out there to those who have been waiting for so long, and those who bought their Nexus One for this very reason, early updates. If you are unwilling to wait, there is a Gingerbread ROM for the Google HTC Nexus S out there, but, I suggest waiting for the official thing.
