Today AT&T said that beginning September 14, it will offer free access to its network of Wi-Fi hotspots to Windows Mobile devices. The service will first be available on Samsung's Jack, Propel Pro and Epix Windows Mobile devices and AT&T will support all Windows Mobile 6.5 devices moving forward. As long as customers have a qualifying data plan, they'll be able to access AT&T's hotspots free of charge. AT&T also said that the devices will be able to auto-authenticate. AT&T offers a similar service for the iPhone, BlackBerries and LaptopConnect.

Handy Wi is a cool Symbian application which will help you connect to any WLAN hotspot. The application is available free of charge and it's not a simple WiFi manager. Handy Wi has reached version 2.0 and it comes now with some useful apps ready to be accessed once you have connected to a WiFi or 3G network.

AT&T has decided to allow the SlingPlayer for the iPhone but it has also set some limits in place for it. Apparently the application "would use large amounts of wireless network capacity" which "could create congestion and potentially prevent other customers from using the network". On top of that, AT&T said that "applications like this, which redirects a TV signal to a personal computer, are specifically prohibited under our terms of service." That's why SlingPlayer for iPhone will be used over WiFi only.
