Apple has introduced the Apple iPhone, a small mobile communications device running Mac OS X. In essence an Apple iPod with widescreen and communications features, the Apple iPhone connects to GSM networks for voice and GPRS/EDGE networks for mobile data.
The device sports a 3.5" touchscreen with 320 by 480 pixels, and is only 11.6mm thick. It also enables communications over Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) and Bluetooth 2.0 EDR. The Apple iPhone weighs 135 grams (4.8 ounces).
Consumers will be able to snap photographs with a built 2 megapixel camera and use its 8GB storage to keep image, music files and other content. The phone also brings a full HTML browser, plus SMS and e-mail clients.
Apple plans to begin shipping the iPhone in June with Cingular services. Suggested price in the U.S. is US$499 for the 4GB version and US$599 for the 8GB.

At first thoughts it will be called AHI and will be based on an Intel Celeron M ultra-low voltage processor. Averatec, has
unveiled the device in France this week, but they didn't say what will be the CPU operating clock (it is expected to have
severeal ranges of speeds), but they confirmed that the AHI UMPC will contain at least 512MB of memory.
The AHI will feature 30GB hard drive, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, optional Bluetooth, 10/100Mbps Ethernet, 56Kbps modem and integrated
3G mobile phone connectivity. Averatec also said the device will sport a GPS receiver for satellite navigation and two
megapixel digital camera too. And all this power is put in an unit weighing 700g and measuring 18.6 x 9 x 3.3cm.
Averatec indicated the AHI will be available in a range of configurations priced between 499 and 899.
