What is the twist you ask? Quite simple, yahoo is releasing the Yahoo! Go 3.0 Beta for Windows mobile! I wonder how all this cooperation with Microsoft is working out after the break up. And the break up was all the more tougher as they were never together. Ironic right? Think of the times Yahoo! Go was available only for Symbian phones and Microsoft wasnt in their future
No matter if Yahoo becomes a part of Microsoft or not, they have released this beta and you can try it if you are one dedicated Yahoo user like me. Id try it to see exactly what it ads to my smart phone although I must admit Yahoo isnt to me what it was before Google entered my life with all their tweaks. Yahoo! Go 3.0 is a 2.5MB freeware program easy to download and customized. I hear it looks good but I dont exactly know how useful. A phones primary object is in fact talking on it. I let my PC do the e-mail/browsing thing.

We have previously posted a trick showing how to prevent WM 5.0 and ActiveSync from draining your battery. At the time of writing it was a 6 step process, but now all is made in CAB file for your ease.
The zip archive contains CAB and setup launcher for easy installation plus a short TXT doc. The core file works by setting Cradled value to zero every minute. When nothing is cradled, no synchronization takes place (at least per personal observation).

Navigation software these days is one of the very much used ones when it comes to Windows Mobile devices. That's why I am sharing with you this nice review of Garmin Mobile XT for Windows Mobile made by Gears from CoolSmartphone.com.
Garmin Mobile XT is a good bit of kit, don't get me wrong. The range of options and the navigation details are great. Little tweaks like the track logs, auto dimming screen and the ability to quickly find petrol stations, hotels and cash machines in your local area are all fab. However, I was a little disappointed with some of the default settings of the program - that auto-zoom does my head in and I couldn't seem to shake off the GPS lag at times. It could that I need to adjust the baud rate on my settings, but this program sets the GPS up automatically when it can, so I'm hoping it didn't get things wrong. There's also those few niggles with the country selection but, for just over £50 with free traffic updates, you've got to work this all into the equation.

Software giant Microsoft has started a discussion with Nokia last week about plans to have the handset maker add Windows Mobile-powered devices to its portfolio. Practically all Nokia phones currently run the Symbian operating system and such a move would be a major change for the industry leader.
At the moment Windows Mobile currently only has just over 6% of the smartphone operating system market compared to more than 70% for Symbian. However, it is gaining acceptance among smartphone manufacturers such as HTC and Samsung that have released Windows Mobile based handsets offering similar features to the Apple iPhone which runs a mobile version of Mac OS X.
Now it is too early to say that Nokia will be making Windows Mobile phones any time soon but keep in mind that Nokia internally was running Windows CE (with use of Platform Builder tool) on some of their phones - for testing purposes, and secondly: such move would be wise particularly in the huge American market, where Symbian is not particularly popular, but Nokia phones powered by Windows Mobile would certainly sell there well.
I hope that more news on this issues will emerge soon.
