While Apple has reached 1 billion downloads with its more and more popular iTunes App Store, Microsoft is still trailing back. The Windows Marketplace is nowhere near completion yet and the store will only be available sometime this summer when the first Windows Mobile 6.5 will be available. Another bad news is that only Windows Mobile 6.5 applications will be supported so all those developers hoping to include app versions for earlier Windows Mobile OS should already give up on that idea.

Windows Mobile 6.5 will arrive sometime this summer or so did Microsoft say a few months ago at the MWC 2009. Rumors say that version 6.5 will be launched at the Tech Ed conference in May which is way too early since the first phones capable of running it will be available by September 2009.
