It's February already, folks, and the much awaited event in the mobile business, the MWC, is almost here. With two weeks to go until Spain becomes the capital of the mobile world we hear some very interesting rumors.
It looks like Microsoft will announce a Zune Phone at the MWC 2010. The Zune Phone seems to be the the Holy Grail of Windows Mobile-based smartphones so far. It has been rumored quite a few times so far but Microsoft has always denied its existence.

A long while ago we talked about some Microsoft concept phones destined for teens and youngsters. Those phones were supposed to come with lots of messaging and social networking features but they were never made public. Now it looks like the Turtle and the Pure have appeared in Zune's software. Does this mean that the phones are going to be launched after all?
Microsoft might soon unveil their first Zune phone along with a couple of Project Pink handsets, the Pure and the Turtle. The software mentions the last two at the section which details all compatible hardware with it.

A Microsoft-made phone seems more and more likely to arrive in the near future. Although various Redmond have repeatedly denied such an idea, a Zune Phone might be in the works. Blending in Windows Mobile 7 with Zune's hardware and multimedia features might result in the creation of a hit phone.
At the same time a Zune Phone is a risk that Microsoft doesn't seem yet ready to take. After all the Zune platform itself is not as popular as Microsoft wants it to be so a Zune Phone might not be necessarily a huge success.

This is definitely not the first time we've been talking about the Zune Phone from Microsoft. Also known as the Pink Phone, the smartphone that's supposed to run Windows Mobile and bring lots of Zune-like multimedia features has always been denied by Microsoft officials.
We have been talking a lot lately about Windows Mobile 7 and according to very recent rumors the OS will be unveiled at MWC 2010. We've seen yesterday two great leaked smartphones, the LG Apollo and the HTC Obsession but Microsoft definitely needs its own mobile phone. Just like Apple has the iPhone and Google the Nexus One!

Ok, so this isn't a mobile phone or anything of the sort, but whenever I see the Zune HD in action I just wished Windows Mobile was like this in every way, here is to hoping Windows Mobile 7 user interface will kick ass as much as the Zune HD.
Microsoft might not be launching a Zune phone just yet but its Zune HD player will pack a powerful Nvidia Tegra Chip. That means Zune HD is capable of running Windows Mobile 7 if Microsoft will want to cross that bridge when the time comes.

It seems this rumor about the Zune phone is coming to a dramatic end sometime next year when Microsoft will unveil the first set of Windows Mobile 7 handsets. Microsoft plans to kick the iPhone and Android in the nuts seems to be in place in the form of the Zune phone. The specs alone if true warrants it to be stolen without fear of the consequences.
Windows Mobile 7 is official everyone! Steve Ballmer talked about Windows Mobile during a Strategic Update Meeting on Tuesday. It has been revealed that Windows Mobile is a core business of Microsoft. The company has 2,000 employees working on it and about a billion dollars invested every year in operating expenses. A Zune phone however is not going to be created yet.
