I've had the HTC Gene P3400 for 2 days and must say this: Enabling the "Transcriber" mode under "Input" is not recommended as it stalls the system totally. Powering off/on also not possible. Battery removal only solution?! Hopefully some Freeware update could fix this...

Well I've had the HTC P3400 for about 3 months now!To say the truth its not all that great,but lets face it,its also the cheapest pda/pocket pc so give it a break!I've had my share of problems,but the most anoying one must be:Almost allways without fail when I download a product(which specifically states for pocket pc windows mobile 5) it tells me not a valid pocket pc application whenever I try 2 install it!I waste a lot of airtime on bougas downloads so if anyone can help me plz do,I'm at seunkie1@hotmail.com!Otherwise great buy!

I've had the P3400 also for a few months, and it can be a very good device with it's video playback (with the right software), and other software functions. It sometimes has struggling points where it lags a bit or hangs. I would just PLEASE like to know how I can use this phone as a USB EDGE Modem for my PC?? Bluetooth sending works fine once we pair the device and user the copy paste option. It works the same way as a Windows XP PC pairing a device. This enables all the folders view on the paired device.....

Hi, I bought P3400 2 weeks ago. This is my first PDA and I chose this against Imate PDAL after reading many user reviews. So far so good. I have installed Airscanner antivirus. It works well, you can also try their 30 days free try & buy option, logon to http://www.airscanner.com/ This model does NOT HAVE WIFI. iMate PDAL has wifi, but my friend who bought PDAL a couple of days ago said that the phone kind of hangs when you use wifi. Somnath, try beaming ( Start > Settings > Connections > Beam )the JPEG with bluetooth instead of paring, works just fine. I'm a mobile freak and explore every function. So if anybody wants to know more about P3400, mail me and I'll try to offer a solution. Cheers!

for those who're facing bluetooth problems...u can send pics or videos or songs via bluetooth...but the only complication here is p3400 interprets bluetooth as beam...which appears as an option when u click on menu button while seeing a pic..so jus click on beam...it will detect other bluetooth devices put on at the same time..n thus u can transfer songs,pics,videos,etc.etc.

@deepti try reinstallin the active sync on your comp.. and shoud work, if your comp has an sd reader you can directly trnsfr or you can also get a sd card reader. @deepak... you can activate your wifi by using a wifi sd card(available on ebay) i use one and work fine..

hey deep, if you are able to sync the device to your comp you goto active sync on the comp n got to tools and explore pocket pc.. the last resort is if you active sync is workin fine, goto to windows media player once your device is connected to your pc.. and click on sync.. it should show on the right hand side of the media player. then you can simply drag and drop..

If your device does not connect ActiveSync, go to USB-PC and disable advance networking. I had the same problem and after disabling, it just worked fine for me. Good luck !

ROHIT: you can transfer most files directly on to your memory card through a laptop/ card reader. However when you want to load video files, suggest you do it through activesync. I think activesync either compresses/ converts the files. Like many users feel, I too agree that this phone is good value for money. But I'm personally disappointed due to the limited options available, considering this phone runs on WM5 OS. I had much more choices and third party softwares to choose from when I was using Nokia which runs on Symbian OS. please do not waste time in purchasing the 3400. this pda has following drawbacks: 1. no wifi 2. greatest drawback : in outdoor your pda goes blank. you cannot see the display. 3. activesync is not friendly user. 4. when you receive the all the number/name is so small that you require +4 power glassess.

For Thomas Von B and WillieOliever and Ajay: problem z procedure to make internet connection on ur PC via ur P3400.. okie itz too simple n stratacular to view it out. start > setting >Connections {Select connection Tab out of personal , syastem , connection} > connections.. click on add a new modem connection #enter ur "name of connection" will be asked . *u enter ur name or any thing. then # "select a modem" wil b asked .. *set there cellular line GPRS.. click next #enter access point name like .. leave blank in user name n password..if u wish u may enter that particular.. click finish... now connect phone to PC.. remember Pc suite of P3400 must be installed on ur PC. ur active sync.. will start as soon as u connect..okie now start > Programme > Internet sharing > connect result: after sometime u ll see status as connected... enjoy internet .... remember as till as ur gprs is started on phone u wont b able to open file explorer in ur PC.. as when u "disconnect" internet ur active sync will be activated.. for any assistance visit me at he_plal@rediffmail.com if all u 3s r satisfied must give me ur feedback

the issue with this piece is that once i change the theme - the changed theme doesnt appear. there is a grey screen shot which comes on instead of the selected theme. i dont know whether the device has an issue or the theme is that way. but once in a while the grey window goes away. ok friends, I Have review many query from different person let me share some of mine , It can also lead to answer of some people post. 1) the Phone is too good. Yeah it lags sometime as less flash memory and overloaded window application. Atleast RAM if 128 or 256 instead of 64mb would have been much better. 2) The Encryption of the data is possible if you go to START-Settings Tab "System" there you can find Encryption. 3) Bluetooth: The Conetivity is fine: only problem is whenever you switch off the blutooth from com manager it return to its default setting. Cause as per our previous usage of bluetooth in nnokia and other device we know if we on the buletooth it is visible to others and can send recieve accordingly. But in this device you need to on blutooth then need to go to Start- Setting- Tab "Connection"-Bluetooth- Tab "Mode" ther check the box make this device visible to other devices. As you switch off buletooth and start again this option gets unchecked again so you need to do it alll again. But i dont have problem doing it as its ok like doing it. 4) Sending file : send through option "Beam" thats the word for bluetooth in other device we use while sending. 5) rite now i have query to myself: i am looking for gps device for this handset, if anyone know please let me know. Yeah after all i would be using it in shanghai china GPS is there.

hello people , hope ya all doing fine. i have just purchased a 3400 htc and all was well until now .... just a while ago .... i was checking my mails and talking to people i lost my network connection . that is my phone wnet on this searching for network mode. i tried manually selecting the network from the network list .... still it wouldnt help. i am using an ETISALAT connection which is quiet prominent in dubai i absolutely have no problems with the network from my other phones. I've used the p3400i for a few weeks now. Unfortunately I've had a few hiccups with Windows Mobile on my Vista PC but have almost always been able to resolve the issues even though a couple of time it meant I had to do hard reset. So from that perspective there seems to be software glitches - everything to do with Windows Mobile 6 and the Sync software. Caution therefore make sure you have backups and save all data on your SD card.

Hello Deepti, you can trim MP3 songs on HTC P3400. You have to open that song from Audio manager and then go to menu and click Set as Ring Tone --> then click on trim-->save to ring tone folder. Later on you can cut paste the trimmed file from Ring tone folder to any folder one you want to be pasted

hai all. me too have been using this set but d nxt version p3400i WM6. some simple steps and this baby will work gr8. to start with try installing apple i phone theme in ur sys. wont work like ifone, but no hangups and all programmes accessicle at ur finger tips. also install s2u2( lock slider) it will give u full screen id visuals. put in icontacts and i dialer and c d way it works(just amazing). but other than icontact,i dialer,and s2u2, all the rest of the applications sud b stored in sd card(as it eats up main space. try installing opera(its good), put in CORE player(plays almost anything), put enhanced fileexplorer,winamPAQ media player to gine u d pc xperience, Biz org(buisness organiser),the latest google map and google2go,an ifone style image viewer(zooms on touch of a finger),bekken(full status shower)and the latest Smart touch(facebook, google sms,cha cha, amazon, jott, paypal mobile, tatango,twitter mob,yelp, z mobile)inclusive. for watching movies in core player i suggest u guys download FORMAT FACTORY. IN MY 2GB sd card i store 4 full movies and at least 65 of my fav songs. i have been using HTC P3400i from last 8 months. and truely speaking, it is an nice handy mobile. Some pros: good music quality gprs works good. diff software can be installed and your life will become gr8 e.g. i installed paint, gravity game, fringe(gtalk,yahoo all work togeather) some cons 1.RAM is very less, if you use media player or IE then RAM usage is much and even after closing these application, RAM usage decrease by only small amount. suppose my RAM usage is 60% and then i play media player for some time then RAM usage increased to 82% when i closed MEdia player, now RAm uasge shown is 74% so it slows down other application hence i need to restart it after every 2-3 days can we increase RAM in this mobile? 2. some problem with speaker phone suppose i want to listen songs on headset and even after plugging in headset my speaker of mobile doesn't stop so i need to restart my mobile and then only speaker stop and i can listen songs on headset 3. my mobile sometime just hang when anyone missed call me i dont undestand these random behaviour, sometime it work great or above things haapened and only solution remain with me is to restart other than these problems, everything works great. if you are ready to restart your mobile when these problem occured, go ahead to buy this mobile.
