Mar 01 Skype certified E-TEN M600 Pocket PC Phone Edition
Published by Vesselin Nerdeff in:Mobile News, Pocket PC, Skype certified E-TEN M600 Pocket PC Phone Edition

E-TEN Information Systems today announced that its M600 Pocket PC Phone Edition now has the latest version of Skype 2.0 pre-installed on the device. E-TEN also confirmed that the company is scheduled to release an OS upgrade for the device soon and that Skype 2.0 will be one of the new features included in this package.

With its built-in support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Quad-band GSM and GPRS, the M600 Pocket PC Phone delivers a complete communications package in one compact device. And with Skype 2.0 for the Pocket PC, these capabilities extend even further allowing users to share the same Skype account with their PCs and M600 and to enjoy free/low rate internet calls.

A big number of Pocket PC devices currently available are unable to meet the hardware requirements for Skype certification – Windows Mobile 5.0, 312MHz processor and high-speed wireless internet connection. E-TEN's M600 is not just one of the few products that is certified, but its small size, innovative internal antenna design and fast 400MHz processor give it the edge over products from other well known manufacturers.

E-ten invites existing M600 users to download Skype 2.0 from the link here

Published by Vesselin Nerdeff in:Devices, eBooks, iRex Technologies presents Iliad E-Reader

Iliad E-Reader gives you the ability to carry around your entire personal library with you wherever you go. So Instead of stuffing a couple of paperbacks into your briefcase when you are taking long business flights, or other time for reading you would grab your iRex Iliad E-Reader and load it up with a few electronic books. Sure, you can do the same thing with just about any PDA device, but products that utilize electronic ink technology have several unique benefits. E-Ink as the technology is commonly referred to, uses very little power, allowing battery powered devices to go for many days between recharges. The viewing surface also delivers outstanding contrast making text easy to read even in direct sunlight.

The Iliad can currently read PDF, XHTML, MP3, and TXT files with more to be introduced as time progresses. It features 8.1-inch screen with a 1024x768 (160dpi) resolution makes reading easy on the eyes, and a wealth of interfaces for getting data into the device - USB type A, CF, 802.11g Wi-Fi, SD/MMC, and 10/100 Ethernet. The display is also touch-enabled allowing you to write notes directly on your reading material for later reference. It runs 400MHz XScale processor and has 64MB RAM and around 224MB of available ROM memory allows the storage of a large quantity of literature.

Feb 28 Spb AirIslands Playing Tips and Advices
Published by Vesselin Nerdeff in:Games, Tips, Pocket PC, Spb AirIslands Playing Tips and Advices

Probably you have tried the new game from Spb Software House - Spb AirIslands. If you have not tried it yet you can read our article about it here or download a trial or purchase it here. Spb AirIslands has proven as the first Pocket PC game featuring all the benefits of a powerful PC strategy.

Below you can find some tips and advices for Spb AirIslands:

1. Each house can accommodate 3 workers.

2. Workers do not necessarily need houses to stay in.

3. Based on the first 2 points, you can actually demolish houses once the occupant leaves the house. In this way, you clear up space for another building/house. You also save on the repair costs and also recover some of the resources.

4. If you demolish buildings with occupants inside, the population also decreases.

5. Sheds make the most money. Build lots of them early in the game.

6. Each worker takes on at least 4 jobs daily. For every 10 happiness points, each worker takes on an additional job daily. In a way, you can say that's a 20% increase for every 10 happiness points.

7. Chapels increase happiness by 15 points and decrease economy by 5 points. That is equivalent to net increase of 10%-30% daily income. However, chapels are seldom used by experts. One of the reason is due to high cost of building. Furthermore, happiness is not really an issue as happiness gets high rather easily later on.

8. Windmill adds 1 to population and 10 to economy. Windmills are essential for getting from Level 3 to 4 due to the economy requirements.

9. Watch-towers adds 25 to economy and that equates to 50% increase in income. Watch your daily income soar with 2 or 3 of these. Watch your pollution level though.

10. Lakes reduces pollution by 30 and is a more cost-effective way to reduce pollution than spurces and trees. However, it only adds 4 to happiness and takes up a lot of space. Some of the top players managed to do well without lakes.

11. Sometimes, don't let the pollution level bother too much. As long as the repair cost is manageable, just let it be.

12. It is also not advisable to upgrade whenever you meet the requirements for the next level. Do consider carefully whether the next level brings you any benefits, e.g. new buildings available to you. Otherwise, the high pollution level will prove to be disadvantageous for you. So it might be better to stock up your golds and resources and prepare for a few leaps at one go in certain situations.
We hope these tricks will make you playing experience with Spb AirIslands better!Source - mobile-sg.com

Feb 28 XDA II blue angel Smartphone Wi-Fi bug fix
Published by Vesselin Nerdeff in:Tips, WiFi, O2, XDA, XDA II blue angel Smartphone Wi-Fi bug fix

HTC blue angel aka XDA II operating system ( Windows Mobile 5.0 ) can have a bug that wifi is not enabled after you resume from standby. If you have experienced this problem and you want to fix it you have to edit the following line:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\\Parms

You'll find a DWORD value named ResetOnResume. The value is set to '1' by default. If you set it to 0, the WiFi signal will turn on automatically when you power on your device.

To find your adapter name go to: Start -> Settings -> Connections -> Network Cards -> Network Adapters, and look for "xxxxxxx Compatible Wireless Ethernet" called 'tiacxwln Compatible Wireless Ethernet' on most (if not all) BA devices. via pocketpctweaks.com

Feb 28 The Great Gold Rush 1.0
Published by root in:Games, Pocket PC, The Great Gold Rush 1.0

Gold Rush is a fast and furious multiplayer (Bluetooth/Wireless) game which requires quick thinking and a devious mind. The objective of the game is simply to collect more gold and precious stones than your opponent in the allotted time. The one that collects and banks the stash with the biggest value wins. Some treasures are worth more than others so the trick is to seek out those that are most valuable. These stones are heavy, and you can only carry so many at any one time. Once your backpack is full you must return to your bank to deposit your stash before heading out for more....

In order to retrieve treasures you will need to blast your way through obstacles using bombs. These bombs are dangerous so avoid standing too close when they explode! You can pick up bomb upgrades which increase your ability to drop multiple bombs, which can also be used as a weapon against your enemy!

The mines are very unstable and every once in a while earthquakes occur and the resulting landslide has a nasty habit of blocking your path, so don't stray too far from your bank. The flip side is it sometimes uncovers hidden gold so keep your eyes peeled at all times.

Multiplayer mode is available over Bluetooth or Wireless network connections.

Game details

  • Multiplayer Support
  • Single Player Mode
  • Up to 4 Computer players
  • Key Configuration
  • Network / Bluetooth / WiFi compatible
  • Fast Smooth High Color Graphics
  • Particle Effects Engine

The Great Gold Rush has a free demo and the full game price is $14.95
