May 15 Microsoft and TechFaith Wireless will Promote WM togheter

On may 12th Microsoft China Co., Ltd. and China TechFaith Wireless Communication Technology Limited, one of the largest handset application software and handset solution providers in China, signed an MOU to establish a strategic collaboration to promote the use of Windows Mobile and Windows Media technology. The two companies will work together to improve the user experience and market share of Windows Mobile based devices, while reducing the time to market and lowering development costs.

According to the MOU, the two parties will work closely with each other in technology development and sales and marketing to further enhance cooperation in the wireless field.

Based on the Windows Mobile and Windows Media technologies, the strategic partnership covers smartphone and entertainment handset product development, application development, collaborative sales and marketing, and an exchange of talent and technology.

Tim Chen, Corporate Vice President and CEO of Microsoft Greater China Region, said, "China is one of our most important markets in wireless area. And Windows Mobile has become one of the major operating systems for mobile devices. The strategic cooperation with TechFaith today is another milestone for Microsoft's development in China in the wireless area. Our strategy is to grow with China's information industry on a win-win basis. We wish to facilitate the entry of software and IT products and services from China-based companies into the international market."

Mr. Defu Dong, TechFaith's Chairman and CEO, said, "This is an important strategic partnership for us. We will be able to leverage our expertise to help Microsoft expand the Windows Mobile market. Through cooperation with Microsoft, TechFaith can provide better services and user experience to customers in China and fast growing international markets."

Pocket PC software developers from Resco has just released their version of classic puzzle game Sokoban for Pocket PC devices - Resco Sokoban. Now it features very cool isometric 3D graphics.

As in the most Sokoban type games the object of Resco Sokoban is to push boxes into their correct position in a crowded warehouse with a minimal number of pushes and moves. The boxes can only be pushed, never pulled, and only one can be pushed at a time. May 15 Samsung SGH-i770 Pocket PC Phone approved by FCC

The FCC today approved a new Pocket PC phone from Samsung. The Samsung SGH-i770 operates on GSM 900/1800/1900 with EDGE data and has Bluetooth. It also appears to have WCDMA 2100 and will run under Windows Mobile 5.0.

As we can see from small pictures in the test documents, Samsung SGH-i770 features either a SureType keyboard like on the Samsung T719 and RIM 7100 series or a butterfly keyboard like on the Sony Ericsson M600. One half of the phone's hinge is also rather large, but it is unclear whether this is a dual pivot hinge to use the phone in landscape mode or a large side-facing camera.

May 14 Woofy from Pocket Puppy 1.0 rocks your Today Screen

Few days ago Pocket PC software developers from Swivel Creations Ltd has released a Tamagotchi styled game called Pocket Puppy. It reminds me of one very funny tamagotchi creature i have installed on my desktop and i have decided to download it on my ppc.

After installing it you become "proud owner of a unique dog called Woofy which will sit and play on your "today" screen." This dog called Woofy like all tamagotchies needs Love, Attention, Feeding, but it also needs to let him watch some TV, or take a ball and play with him and also chatting to friends on the phone. Woofy just cruises your Today Screen and when needs you, he taps on the screen and asks you for assistance, sometimes with very funny and maybe bizzare questions or just informs you for some strange things. It's quite cool and chillin to have something like Pocket Puppy on your device.
