Recent advances in remote sensing technology yield higher density with better elevation data accuracy of one meter or better. Displaying such massive amounts of data in 3D perspective with 3D maneuverability presents a major challenge. As a result, most PC based viewers reduce the quality of elevation. Realizing that the terrain generated is far from the original data, they rebuild some of the elevation data. This ploy rarely restores the elevation dataset to its original accuracy. It may also create popping artifacts which most solutions conceal with near sight fog. However, these techniques are inadequate for navigation aid as they are likely to distort the virtual view, for example causing roadways to appear crimped.

"3DVU's advanced technology presents the original elevation data accuracy and density with negligible artifacts. It clearly displays the value of high definition terrain data," noted Isaac Levanon, 3DVU Chairman and CEO.
