Skins

Follow these easy steps to install the skin you like:
1. Download appropriate ZIP file.
2. Extract the archive to a folder on your desktop PC using WinZipR or other unpacking software.
3. Insert your Pocket PC into the craddle and check if ActiveSync is connected.
4. Run the extracted desktop installation file (the one that has .exe extension) to start installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

# Operation System up from Windows mobile 2003

Be awared that smartphone operating systems are designed to "sleep" and wake up immediately when it is requested to do something. Feb 01 Sprint about to release Treo 700w by end of February
Published by Vesselin Nerdeff in:Mobile News, Palm, Treo, Sprint about to release Treo 700w by end of February

According to the guys from Bear Stearns who have broken into several overseas manufacturing facilities to discover that the WM5-powered, EV-DO-packin' Treo 700w may be introduced by Sprint as early as the end of Feburary. This contradicts earlier information which pointed to a late-March release, and would also go against the traditional three to six month exclusivity contract that carriers and manufacturers usually sign.

By the way, unless that breaking-and-entering comment about Bear Sterns analysts Ted Chung, Bill Hand, and Andrew Neff is completely false- it will be really nice if Sprint are about to release the new Windows powered Treo at the end of this month.

Published by Vesselin Nerdeff in:Software, iLumina MOBILE bible for Pocket PC & Palm OS by Olive Tree

In partnership with Tyndale House Publishers, Olive Tree has retooled the original PC iLumina Gold version to support Pocket PC and Palm OS devices. iLumina MOBILE is now available as the market's first digitally animated Bible and encyclopedia suite-right in the palm of your hand. This really nice applications includes also and enciclopedia.

"What impressed me most about the handheld is that nothing of the original essence of the PC has been lost. If anything, the graphics are brighter and crisper in the scaled down version," says W. Victor Kore, Marketing Manager from Beers Publishing Group Tyndale House Publishers. "The user interface is well thought out too. From the main page, you are only a tap away from the Bible, the encyclopedia, timeline or multimedia. It is not only functional, but a pleasure to look at."
iLumina mobile - a software suite that takes PDA Bible Study to a new level. The combination of material included in the package gives the user a wealth of information to enhance their Bible Study experience. Included in the mobile version is the addition of the NIV along with the NLT and the KJV Bibles, and a select number of video animations and tours, along with maps, timelines, and other useful information resources. The specially designed user interface works wonderfully to make this wealth of information just a tap away!

Feb 01 AirIslands strategy game for Pocket PC released by Spb
Published by Vesselin Nerdeff in:Games, Pocket PC, AirIslands strategy game for Pocket PC released by Spb

Spb Software House has released Spb AirIslands, a new Pocket PC game based on a unique concept, combining real-time strategy game where you have to build a colony on an isolated island, and a set of mini-games. The 3 included mini-games are used to earn resources you can use later to develop your island. This unique concept allows Spb AirIslands to combine all the benefits of a desktop strategy game with all necessary attributes of a fun Pocket PC game.

It takes the player into a unique world of an isolated island with its own history, rules, success strategy and story line. And, at the same time, you can always play one of the three mini-games when you have 5-10 minutes of spare time (for example standing in a line), thus earning resources for the big game. Your task is not only to survive on an island, but to colonize, build, and develop it, taking into account different factors that influence the hard colonist's life. Build Your Island

The old world was ruined by a disaster. It is now a pack of isolated islands floating in the sky. You join the army of heroes who revive the world. You get at your disposal an island where you should repair the life and the Gravitator. Success of the whole campaign depends on you because the world cannot become a whole entity while at least one Gravitator is not repaired. You own such an island. Your task is to repair the Gravitator.
During the game you can build different buildings. People living in houses earn gold to help you in repairing the Gravitator.

Earning Resources

The presence of these mini-games allows you to play Spb AirIslands everywhere if you only have a couple of free minutes. By playing mini-games you combine the useful with the pleasing. The more mini-games you play, the more resources you get! Play:

* Spb Bubbles to earn water
* Spb Xonix II to earn wood
* Spb Arkaball II to earn bricks

Mini-Game: Spb Xonix II

To get some wood you should go to the joiner's shop where you should cut wooden panels. While cutting you should be patient, fast in response and quick-witted. You have to trick guileful spanners, bearing balls and other enemies which do everything to hamper your work.

Mini-Game: Spb Bubbles

To get some water you should go to the island's edge where with the help of a crossbow and water bubbles you will be able to fill up water tanks. When earning water you should be patient, fast in response and quick-witted. Remember that feeble branches of old trees cannot hold up heavy bubbles filled with water for a long time.

Mini-Game: Spb Arkaball II

To get some bricks you should go to deserted caves where by controlling the magic ball and with the help of a tub you'll become a quarrier. When forcing your way through different rocks you should be patient, fast in response and quick-witted. Take care of your magic ball. The tub is absolutely useless without it.

Feb 01 VoIP Application with support for Windows Mobile 5 Dual-Mode Devices
Published by Vesselin Nerdeff in:Mobile News, VoIP, VoIP Application with support for Windows Mobile 5 Dual-Mode Devices

SIPquest, developer of converged Multimedia Client Software announced today that its Mobile Console is the first VoIP application to support Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 devices. Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 is the newest operating system to support dual-mode for PDA and smartphone devices.

Delivering services over WiFi, WiFi and GSM and WiFi and CDMA networks, the Mobile Console application will allow dual mode device users in both wireless and WiFi networks to have one, optimal and seamless experience.

As it seems from a recent release, the Mobile Console’s single GUI and support for unified numbering consolidates both WiFi and cellular identities and is interoperable with IP PBX’s and softswitches.

The new application will also include a "Network Aware" feature that will allow users more options and personal choices when placing phone calls. For example the feature will recommend a network connection option based on availability for better quality and lowered costs or users will have the option to choose which ever factor they prefer.

"We have a track record of supporting innovative operating systems such as Windows Mobile and are proud to be the first VoIP application to support version 5.0," said David Hattey, president and CEO or SIPquest.

The Mobile Console application will be displayed at the 3GSM Conference in Barcelona Spain for February 13-16 2006. For more on this please visit www.sipquest.com

Jan 31 First Impressions of TORQ P120 Windows Mobile 5 smartphone
Published by Vesselin Nerdeff in:Devices, Smartphone, First Impressions of TORQ P120 Windows Mobile 5 smartphone

The TORQ P120 is smartphone that runs Windows Mobile 5 and it has GSM/GPRS, Bluetooth and WiFi (802.11b) radios. The black candy bar-style case is very attractive and the screen contrast and colors are nice. It has a nice 130MB of user-accessible memory in addition to an extra SD slot. To round it out, a 1.3 megapixel camera with light is there for you to capture all those spur of the moment shots.

The TORQ P120 is an attractive device. It's approximately the same width and thickness as a Treo 700w, and more narrow, but thicker than the HP hw6515. The 240 x 320 screen is bright, clear and crisp. One issue that I had with the screen is that I had to do the screen alignment process more often than I have on other devices. Hope this wil not continues as I spend more time with the device.

Jan 31 I-mate PDA-N Pocket PC Review
Published by Vesselin Nerdeff in:Devices, Pocket PC, PDA, Reviews, VoIP, I-mate PDA-N Pocket PC Review

The handheld runs the latest Windows Mobile 5 operating system and includes many of the features found on other PDAs today, but it also throws in some extra tricks, such as GPS navigation and VoIP support. However, you're going to pay a price for such features, as the PDA-N costs a whopping $499. Along with its smart-phone siblings, the I-mate Jamin and the I-mate SP5, the I-mate PDA-N is scheduled for release in April.

The i-mate PDA-N with built in GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, is the first Pocket Pc with built in GPS from i-Mate. Complemented by the 2.8-inch LCD capable of 240 x 320 pixels, the PDA-N offers exceptional GPS reception and spotless navigation to its users. Over all the PDA-N has high marks for looks with its large high-resolution screen and slim form factor. It is about the same size as the i-mate JAM.

With Window Mobile 5.0 corporations can be confident mobile email will be delivered to all their mobile professionals. The new Windows Mobile 5.0 platform allows for scalable and cost-effective mobile messaging supported by Exchange 2003 out of the box, whilst your companies networks, data and applications are protected.

I-mate PDA-N includes VoIP support and ships with Skype loaded on the device, so with the built-in Wi-Fi, you can use the PDA-N to make phone calls over the Internet--a boon for mobile professionals. Also, useful to road warriors is the embedded 12-channel GPS receiver, which can help navigate to various client meetings, conferences, or the kids' soccer practice. I-mate will also package it with a vehicle mount.

Unfortunately The I-mate PDA-N comes with only 128MB of ROM and 32MB of RAM, which is a bit on the low side for a device of this class. Fortunately, there is an SDIO/MMC expansion slot.According to I-mate, the PDA-N has a rated battery life of 5 hours in GPS mode and 8 hours playing a looped video.
