I am very pleased to introduce you one very nice Pocket PC client for Twitter. With the rise of Twitter users and the increase in the adoption of Windows Mobile devices around the world, the need for a client that allows those Windows Mobile users to utilize as many of the features of Twitter as possible without needing to be at a desktop computer increased as well. And as the rates for mobile Internet access and the surcharges incurred by mobile providers for SMS messages increased, the need for a full-featured, yet simple-to-use, client presented itself as a need. A new public beta version of SoftMaker Office 2008 for Pocket PCs is now available as a free download. This new beta comes with several fixes and improvements, such as:

* The setup program now optionally installs design templates and graphical bullets to a storage card, thereby freeing internal memory.
* Umlauts and accented characters can now be entered on the Palm Treo's built-in keyboard.
* Opening the Zoom dialog doesn't make the software unstable anymore.
* If you move Jetcet Print to a different folder, SoftMaker Office will still find it.
* Slideshows in Presentations now always fit on the screen.
* SoftMaker Presentations now allows you to insert sound files.

Since the iPhone came alive everyone want to have this finger controls, even the Windows Mobile users stated to dream about the touch functions of the iPhone. Operating your contacts is one of the most common action for every mobile phone user and for sure doin it with your finger is fun. After the FunContacts applications that we have presented you, we will try to show you it's alternative in the freeware space. Meet the iContact which get updated to version 0.5 some days ago. iContact is a simple contacts applications for your Windows Mobile device which will help you scroll your contact list in iPhone style by sliding down your finger in the screen! It's really amazing and if you get used to it iContact could be one of your everyday apps. The app is very basic, it only lists contacts in scrollable list. Use it for accessing your contacts by scrolling the list with fingers, similar to iPhone. Just tap, drag and release. To select a contact, just tap and release, and standard contact details dialog should appear.

Here are the update Description for v0.5:

- iContact should now be visible in task managers
- added application icon
- alphabet grid can be shown by clicking on ABC button. It stays shown until letter is selected, or you tap on an empty space

Mar 24 Bye 5 minute Sync on Windows Mobile devices

We have previously posted a trick showing how to prevent WM 5.0 and ActiveSync from draining your battery. At the time of writing it was a 6 step process, but now all is made in CAB file for your ease.

The zip archive contains CAB and setup launcher for easy installation plus a short TXT doc. The core file works by setting Cradled value to zero every minute. When nothing is cradled, no synchronization takes place (at least per personal observation).

Navigation software these days is one of the very much used ones when it comes to Windows Mobile devices. That's why I am sharing with you this nice review of Garmin Mobile XT for Windows Mobile made by Gears from CoolSmartphone.com.

Garmin Mobile XT is a good bit of kit, don't get me wrong. The range of options and the navigation details are great. Little tweaks like the track logs, auto dimming screen and the ability to quickly find petrol stations, hotels and cash machines in your local area are all fab. However, I was a little disappointed with some of the default settings of the program - that auto-zoom does my head in and I couldn't seem to shake off the GPS lag at times. It could that I need to adjust the baud rate on my settings, but this program sets the GPS up automatically when it can, so I'm hoping it didn't get things wrong. There's also those few niggles with the country selection but, for just over £50 with free traffic updates, you've got to work this all into the equation.
