Qtek 9100 aka HTC Wizard Full Review

Qtek 9100 aka HTC Wizard Full ReviewQtek 9100 has many enhancements over the earlier model, HTC Magician, such as Windows Mobile 5 as the operating system, EDGE and WiFi for fast data transmission, 128 MB of FlashROM, and a convenient slide-out keyboard for typing larger chunks of text. All that together with a more than reasonable price has made this device one of the most eagerly awaited Pocket PCs of the past year.

Before I start examining the contents of the box, let me put the device in context for those who have not followed the latest developments in the world of Pocket PCs. The Qtek 9100, i.e. the device that is subject to this review, is a product of HTC of Taiwan (not to be mistaken for THC, which offers a completely different kind of experience). The company does not sell its product under its brand; you cannot buy a HTC Wizard. It only sells to vendors and mobile operators who offer its devices under their own brand. So, even though this is a review of Qtek 9100, it applies, with a few differences in design, software and accessories, for instance to T-Mobile's MDA Vario and i-mate K-JAM by i-mate as well. said Pavel Koza from pdagold.com.

So if you are considering purchasing the Qtek 9100 you can read this extensive review here.

Syberia for Pocket PC by Tetraedge coming soon

Syberia for Pocket PC by Tetraedge coming soonI was really amazed and happy when i found that software developers from TetraEdge are working to port Syberia, this great quest PC game, for Pocket PC devices. They have announced that the game will be available later this year for both VGA and QVGA handhelds.

One of the interesting things about Syberia for Pocket PC is, that unlike all other Tetraedge ports before this game originally plays with a third person view, for example Atlantis Redux is 1st person. But the screenshots do not show if Tetraedge is going to remake everything to first-perspective or if the character will be visible during the game in 3rd person view.

I will personally take the task to inform you about further news about Syberia for Pocket PC, because i am really big fan of its PC version.

Control Pocket PC from desktop PC with Neslo Desktop Rover

Control Pocket PC from desktop PC with Neslo Desktop RoverNeslo Software has released an update to its Windows software that enables a single keyboard and mouse to control multiple computers, including Pocket PCs running Windows Mobile. Desktop Rover enables a desktop-connected keyboard and mouse to provide input to and exercise control over a Pocket PC either wirelessly or through a USB cradle connection.

Here's the gist – when you install the software, you'll indicate in their interface the location of your Pocket PC device. Then, for those of you who use two monitors, it'll feel similar – your Pocket PC will fire up and "receive" the pointer.

Neslo says that Desktop Rover can serve as a convenient substitute for a KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) switch in some applications, and that it is a useful way to control a laptop while in the office. Other suggested uses for the application include "pair programming" collaboration and tradeshow demonstrations.

Desktop Rover allows you to control up to 32 computers (and now Pocket PCs) with a single computer's keyboard and mouse. By positioning each computer's monitor next to (or above or below) each other, you can use each computer as if it was part of a single virtual desktop. You simply move the mouse from one computer to the next and the keyboard focus follows the mouse to that computer. Here are some ways our customers use Desktop Rover.

Use instead of KVM switch. Some of our customers use Desktop Rover instead of a KVM switch because they want to have a monitor connected to each computer, but don't want the clutter of all the mice and keyboards.

Control your laptop from your desktop computer. Many computer professionals have a main desktop computer for development and a laptop for presentations, meetings, travel, etc. Instead of using a docking station, they place the laptop next to the desktop computer, and use the main computer to control the laptop while using it at their desk.

Pair Programming collaboration tool. When programming or working with a partner, you can place two computers next to each other and configure them in a virtual desktop group. Each partner can move the mouse over to the computer next to them. They can literally control each other's computer without reaching for the other keyboard.

Tradeshow demonstration tool. Use Desktop Rover to demonstrate your product running on two or more computers? Control multiple systems without awkwardly reaching for different keyboards or mice and without constantly switching your KVM.

Simplify Pocket PC tasks. When your Pocket PC is in the cradle and you are working at your main computer. It is much easier to move your mouse over to the Pocket PC to work than fumbling for the stylus.

You can download Neslo Desktop Rover from here.
