EQO Communications announced immediate availability of EQO Mobile for Skype on the Palm TREO 650 and Motorola ROKR, SLVR, and RAZR handsets. With this announcement, made at the CTIA Wireless 2006 conference, EQO brings the number of EQO-supported handset models to more than 45 and finally, PalmOS community can put the Skype petition into reset, EQO Communications Mobile Instant Messaging for Skype is now available for download for Palm Treo 650 smartphone users.

"We've built a platform and a solution that is both flexible and adaptable," said Colin Quon, Founder and CTO of EQO. "This enables us to respond quickly to customer demand in expanding support for new and popular phone models as they hit the streets."

EQO uses a small amount of data traffic on your mobile phone so you may wish to consult your wireless service provider about an appropriate data services plan using GPRS. Useful Feedback from users that have already installed it on their Treos:

1. The Mobile App. UI needs lot of improvements. Specially the standard Palm OS Edit functions should be provided (Cut, Copy, Paste).
2. Need to have support for 5-way navigation pad for the two buttons on the bottom of the screen. It is very annoying to press screen and then use the 5-way pad for other functions.
3. The screen keeps flickering on some views. Do not know why.
4. The Call # screen needs much improvement. The first digit you enter appear off the input window.

Averatec, a company oriented in producing Notebooks, will ship its own ultra-mobile PC concept this autumn, offering a handheld Windows XP Home Edition-based machine with a keyboard that sits underneath a slide-out 5in, 1,280 x 1,204 touch-sensitive screen.

At first thoughts it will be called AHI and will be based on an Intel Celeron M ultra-low voltage processor. Averatec, has unveiled the device in France this week, but they didn't say what will be the CPU operating clock (it is expected to have severeal ranges of speeds), but they confirmed that the AHI UMPC will contain at least 512MB of memory.

The AHI will feature 30GB hard drive, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, optional Bluetooth, 10/100Mbps Ethernet, 56Kbps modem and integrated 3G mobile phone connectivity. Averatec also said the device will sport a GPS receiver for satellite navigation and two megapixel digital camera too. And all this power is put in an unit weighing 700g and measuring 18.6 x 9 x 3.3cm.

Averatec indicated the AHI will be available in a range of configurations priced between €499 and €899.

One of MoDaCo members, STuFF, has updated his clone of the Sokoban game for the new generation of phones. Even better, he's making it available to members for free ! It should only work on QVGA windows mobile 2005 smarthones (and maybe PPC).

Two Types of Characters are available. Any player can select his own character from two types: Soldier and Magician. Each type features its unique skills. Soldier is quick and strong, he is well-versed in different kinds of weapons and mostly fights in close battles. Magician is a major magic character, who knows a lot of magic spells, but too vulnerable in the close fight.

Choice of the game strategy. The player may choose game strategy by selecting evolution lines of his/her characters. For instance, a Soldier can become a skilled sworder and an experienced archer, and Magician is able to develop various fighting spells or treatment skills as well as cast some spells with various bonuses on Soldier. Thus, the player can choose the game strategy: whether to train two independent fighting characters or create a powerful fighting team, especially strong due to the mutual help.

Ability to change weapons during the battle. During the battle the player is able to reequip his characters: choose artifacts that protect your hero from magic or physical injuries or choose weapons, which causes both magical and physical damage to your enemy. Due to well-performed interface, adjusted to Pocket PC, the Soldier, for example, is able to easily exchange axe to bow and begin to hit air targets.

5 schools of magic, a variety of spells. Playing as Magician you may develop your spells for 5 Elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Air and Astral. Combining various spells, Magician is able to become the most powerful and developed character. And the interface adjusted to Pocket PC allows you to break out a real magic storm on your enemies in few seconds.

3D ground: speed of movements depends on the landscape peculiarities. It makes the game even more interesting in terms of tactics and strategy. For instance, having captured the hill you are able to annihilate your enemies easily, while they are climbing it slowly, or by taking position in the middle of the desert your heroes have enough time to shoot down all monsters stuck in the sand.

High speed of battle strategy implementation. This version, adjusted to Pocket PC, has much more advantages in comparison with its PC analogue, since new interface of the game allows you to access menu immediately. Also it enables you to cast your enemies with hundreds of spells and rearm your warriors depending on the situation.

SelectRadio has overcome the deficiency of playing streaming radio and now it is available for Pocket PC and Pocket PC Phone edition devices. SelectRadio links you to Shoutcast, radioio, XM Radio Online (for a monthly fee) and any custom channels you wish to add.

When you install the program, you will find tabs for radioio, Shoutcast, XM Radio, SelectPicks and My Channels. My Channels is empty and is there for you to add your own channels. If you let me make a suggestion i would say it will be better to look over the documentation, then download and install the program and get the 3 day trial of XM Radio to see if the program is worth buying for you.

Pioneer have announced their new AVIC-S1 pocket GPS system for the European market. Their first portable navigation device, the AVIC-S1, weighs only 180g and has over 7 million kilometres of European maps pre-installed and ready to use. Pioneer AVIC-S1 Pocket GPS System will be available from June 2006, and will also offers hands-free phone control through Bluetooth.

Pioneer has implemented 2GB of flash memory, which will ensure that there's no delay when the unit is switched on and the operating system delivers very quick and precise route calculations complemented by timely guidance instructions. In addition, the high-performance SiRF Star III GPS receiver is included to ensure optimised GPS signal reception and an SD slot for map expansion, and the ability to hook the unit up to your PC via the USB port for GPS updates.

Pioneer AVIC-S1 Pocket GPS System also supports direct dialling of numbers from its touch-screen, and additional features like call history. When paired with compatible phones, the phonebook stored on the mobile phone can be transferred to the memory of the AVIC-S1, allowing direct dialling from the phone book too.
